Alright folks, take it easy on me with this one. I rebuilt my Q-Jet (original) replaced hoses and all the the other main replacement stuff, hot washed/blasted/painted the intake manifold and valve covers, changed the oil, flushed/changed the coolant, ran all the old gas out and replaced it with high octane and used used sea foam/mystery oil in gas and oil and replaced the distributor cap/components/plugs and wires.

The idle mixture screw broke (waiting on new one) and the original coil choke screw hole is stripped, but it still works on the carb.

I am green on carb rebuilding and there are many adjustments I need to make and the timing is off.
BUT, she was running and idling pretty well (even with the half ass carb and **** timing) before and now if I take my foot off the gas she just STOPPS! She doesn't even smoke anymore! I just want to drive her down the damn driveway for once!

I feel like there should be more oil in the valve covers when I take the cap off and finger around, but the stick still shows the same amount when cold.

    Lay it on me gents.....

have you set the choke, fast idle and regular idle per the service manual?

WHERE are the broken pieces of the idle mixture screw?

IF (big IF) you've got an open hole in the throttle plate where the mixture screw SHOULD be, that's likely a good share of your problem. Massive air leak, plus a semi-uncontrolled fuel leak. Four out of eight cylinders aren't getting the proper air/fuel ratio. No wonder it won't idle.

Most of them don't require the engine to be running. Are all those completed?

Static-time the engine. Done properly and with some experience, you can get within a couple of degrees of where it should be. And if the issue is the engine stalls when you take your foot off the gas pedal, better to be ten degrees advanced than two degrees retarded. Just don't drive it that way.

    What is the fast-idle speed?

    What is the curb-idle speed?

The rockers get whatever oil is metered through them, unless the supply passages in the engine are blocked/restricted, or the oil pressure is unusually low. How much oil pressure do you have at idle?

Test the vacuum diaphragm if not replaced.
Idle and fast idle adjustments get a little tricky if you are not familiar with that linkage.
Miss matched gasket can be sneaky too.

Looks like I need to do my homework. Plenty of things here I need to focus on and figure out.
I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Thank you all for the help!
