That car has a 71 trim tag on it, buyer be ware! A friend wanted it and asked the seller for the tag. The tag showed a 70 red car. I advised him to stay away and it sold this morning.
I saw this car 5 years ago in Dallas when it was for sale. It was/is being sold as a 71, but everything about the car is from a 70 except the cowl tag and VIN tag. Check out the rivets and you decide.
It’d be interesting to go over that thing closely-at best it’s a ‘71 convertible with some ‘70 sheetmetal and interior. I won’t say I suspect fraud, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the only things not ‘70 are those tags. A person might find the same ‘70 VIN more than once and date codes that all line up… Patrick
How many times have you seen a factory built Fire Red convertible with white top/interior changed to Burnished Saddle/tan top/brown interior? They went to great lengths to build a 70 clone as it even has the very hard to find 70 big block fan shroud…
There can’t be that many ‘70 GS455 convertibles built with that combo, either; a search for some date codes and details, if not the actual VIN, compared to the list from whichever document holder has those dates, might point to a car that went missing… Patrick Probably fewer than 100 ‘70 GS455 verts in that color; breaking down further would probably yield 50?
71 or later master cylinder, no delay valve. If you want to know if it is a 70 body get a picture of the backseat trunk divider and trunk.
Is this the same car? If so, it’s going up… Patrick https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1632579970457398/
