Wow. It didn't take long for this one to show up again. It sold at at the May 2021 Mecum auction in Indy for $63,800 (including fees) so someone is hoping to make a nice profit of $23,100 (minus shipping costs, etc). https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0521-461500/1970-buick-gsx/ It's easy to see that it's the same car due to the unique add-on A/C under the dash.
? Don’t believe this is the same car ? This is a one family owned car! Sold new in Rockford IL unless I’m mistaken!
This is definitely the same car that sold at the Mecum auction a few months ago since it's the same VIN 446370H293623 that is shown in the video of the Mecum auction ad. Only thing that seems to have changed is that someone used can of black paint to paint the master cylinder and brake booster. Check out the under dash A/C unit, orange plug wires, etc. no doubt, same car even without the VIN.
$86k vs. $65k for the other one. The under-dsah A/C would have to go but...Not much info about the Mecum car but seemingly is a much better deal. Now, since both are being flipped and both sold in May, how about the May prices: $63,800 vs. $25k & assuming the $25k car had the steering wheel & tach as they were there supposedly. Maybe a tougher choice? Depends on the details of the $63k car wrt bodywork that may/may not have been done and if to the quality but probably still a better deal @ $40k more.
The car Speedway is selling, and which was previously sold at Mecum in May '21, has chrome valve covers and a Stage 1 air cleaner decal, but the build sheet does not indicate the Stage 1 option, and the motor is stamped SR. In an ad for the car prior to the Mecum auction, the car did not have chrome valve covers and did not have the Stage 1 decal. https://topclassiccarsforsale.com/uploads/photoalbum/1970-buick-gsx-455-12.jpg
