The yellow firewall may hurt it a little bit.

Yes , why go to such lengths make a car correct and then do that?

Maybe more than a little. I didn't really scrutinize the pics too much but couldn't help to notice that.
I don't get it either. We see stuff like that all the time.

I agree with what everyone is saying
" BUT" Most of the GSX's restored are over restored .
There is no way in Hell that a car left the factory the way
the restoration specialist do these cars .
I feel that the person who built this car wanted it his way.
My car is in no way a high dollar car , but I enjoy the car
the way it is with the modifications ( original Stage 2 parts )
    that I did .
There is an A## for every seat !!
    My 2 cents

The more I look at the photos, the more things jump out in a negative way. The firewall is the most obvious and I suspect the entire floor pans will be painted shiny yellow to match as well. That might also explain the chrome rearend cover. In every area this car has a list of incorrect details or issues.

By todays standards the restoration looks amateurish but I suspect it's just an older restoration that was perhaps done in the 80s or early 90s when people either didn't know any better or it just didn't matter too much since the cars were not extremely valuable yet. Most of the items are easy to correct if it really matters to the buyer. And if they aren't worried about the details they can just enjoy the car as-is and maybe get a fair deal if the seller is realistic with the reserve due to the issues.

One thing that's not mentioned is matching numbers. Is any of the drivetrain original? What about smaller items like carb and distributor? This stuff affects the value to Buick guys but might not matter to some rich collector that just wants to add a documented Stage 1, 4-speed GSX to a collection. The documentation provided by Mecum does show it's an original Stage 1, 4-speed and that will be what matters to most people. I know I'd like to have it sitting in my garage...yellow firewall and all.

The sellers other auctions (they have quite the nice collection, most are 4-sp's) do specify #'s matching in many cases so I assume since this one does not...

Even the stripes don't look right. Too straight.

Will be interesting to how much all this affects the hammer or whether "the bid goes on..."

I agree, it will be interesting. With rare cars like this there's a limited number of opportunities to grab one so a buyer may be willing to overlook these issues and be willing to overpay for the chance to get the car. I figure it doesn't have all the original drivetrain or else the ad would mention it.

    Get it Fritz!

Check out this GSX jacket I have. Look closely at the name on the front.
