This is very hard to read, wishing you're son all the best just the same. Prayer works! Thank you so much for sharing.
Fellow members, wanted to give you and update on Matthew. Matthew had surgery yesterday, was a 5 hour surgery with almost 2 hours in recovery. The doctors used 5 laparoscopic incisions to remove the mass that was located just below the sternum in his colon. They had to make a 3” incision in that sternum area to remove the mass. According to the surgeon, the mass had branch like fingerlings of cancer attached to the mass. They removed the polyp in his rectum area as well as the lymph nodes. He was also able to see the liver - he did not biopsy the liver as he believes they will know what they are dealing when the polyp is biopsies as well as the cancer mass. They are hoping to have the pathology report available by late Friday. The Oncologist is involved to determine the next step for treatment. The Dr was in this morning and talked with Matt @ 05:00 - he told Matt from a technical perspective, the surgery was perfect. My bride and I would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers - it is so very much appreciated - we know that the path we are on will be long and difficult for Matt and family, I believe and have tried to impress on our family that their is nothing more important than family. We are so fortunate to be that we are part of yours. God Bless each of you - Byron & Gail
Thank you Byron and Gail for the update. Glad it went well. Please continue to update us as you see fit.

Good morning - Each day, I read and appreciate the comments. As one would expect, the path for Matt has been difficult. 2 weeks past, Matt & Kamie flew to Boston to see a specialist that is a liver surgeon/oncologist. He was there for an initial appointment - The Doctor and team told Matt & Kamie that they could take care of the liver spots with ablation, so they stayed over for a couple of days. During prep for the ablation they completed a scan. The cancer on the liver had gone from 6 spots to 10 - they didn’t proceed with the ablation. The cancer is now considered fast spreading as the number of spots increased as the size did as well. A CT Scan was completed of his lungs, he does have spots, they were not able to determine if they are cancerous or not. Matt began Chemo on Wednesday of this week. He is doing well with the Chemo, really no nausea, just some tiredness. The team in Boston is also in contact with Sloan in NYC - he sees a specialist at the University of MN on Monday (His oncologist is leaving the practice in a month - so he to find another) Matt also has an appointment with Mayo in early October. From our perspective, Matt is doing about as well as can be expected. He has the support of family, and Kamie (wife) is doing all she is able to at this point. The visit to Boston we believe was helpful as they changed the Chemo mix - instead of waiting 3 months for testing, they will test/scan at 6 weeks. The Dr at Boston has called them 2 times in the last week and on the last call told Matt that if the results from Chemo are not demonstrating positive results, she would perform liver surgery, most likely a transplant. Thank you so very much for your thoughts and prayers - it is important to me that you know how much it is appreciated. Byron
Thank you - the road for Matt is twisting and turning - his mind is in the right place - He has this new bug, it’s called the Camaro ZL - 650 HP with a 6 speed........... His desire is to split the cost and the ownership - he gets to keep it at his house for 6 months - I keep it for 6 months at my place - he gets the summer 6 months, I get the winter 6 months (read storage) - I told him I am not interested in those arrangements - so, we are going to look at Camaro’s on Tuesday..... Please keep the prayers coming - and thank you all. Byron
