Hey Duane, way off the subject but was your 71 GSX silver? I lived in Virginia in the mid 80’s and looked at a silver 71 GSX for sale out in the country. The owner also had a show 72 gs in his garage with mirrors under it to show how clean it was. I still to this day wish I would have pulled the trigger but I had just bought a QQ 70 back in Oregon and was driving my 67 Cali gs. I am pretty good at convincing the wife but that one was shot down in flames.

My old 71 350 GSX was Cortez Gold, but the 71 Red GSX was also supposedly sold by the same dealership. I was offered to purchase the Red car but didn’t want it. I already had a 71 GSX 350 car and really don’t like red cars.

That dealership supposedly sold quite a few 71 GSX’s so I would not rule out their selling a Silver one.

Was the silver 71 in Culpeper, Va? I remember looking at a flame orange 72 Stage 1 hardtop out there and the owner also had a silver 71 350 GSX and a gold 72 350 GSX as well as a harvest gold 70 GS 455 show car. It was a husband and wife that were both into Buicks.

There was a Silver '71 GSX for sale in Culpepper in '87 for $4500 and it came from that same dealership. I believe they had multiple GS's (I remember talking to the lady about buying it). It was at the '86-87 Nationals (maybe other years as well). I posted about in the 2022 Nationals Pictures thread & it was raced in BSA. It was/is a 350 w/ base bench black interior. That car, I recently found out, is owned by Randy Hollister in AZ and was at the Nationals bith last year for the reunion & this year. At some point it sat outside and the (non-orig.) paint didn't hold up well.

I know of another possible 71 Silver GSX, but we can’t prove that’s what it is.

It is an SCO car, with the low body number, and don’t remember if it is a Small or Big Block, but it is an interesting car,

I don't know what documents the above car I posted has although it's current owner knew it came from Sabau so he must have something. Back when I was looking at buying it in '87 I doubt we knew much about documenting them. It wasn't until a few years after that before we even met you in BG.

Yes Dano that’s the car, I was able to make it to the nationals last year and spoke to the owner from Arizona and from what he told me I assume it’s the car. I was just wondering who the couple was, I was thinking it might have been Duane. When I looked at it he was asking 5000 bucks. I was in shock when I saw it rolling out of the trailer at BG. They were a really cool Buick couple but I was young and can’t remember names now.

We lived in Falls church for a coupe years, moved out there when Nordstrom opened on the east coast. I had my 69 stashed at my parents house my X at my brothers neighbors shop and was driving a 67 Cali. If I had purchased that car I probably wouldn’t have celebrated our 39th anniversary last month. I could have driven to the Nationals back then and I never even looked into it, being young and dumb bit me in the ass on that one. A kid at a dealer in Oakton had a white X but he told me it had been re-bodied it looked good and was his driver. 71’s to me were way to hard to prove back then, that was the final decision maker.

    OK,
So that makes the 3rd or 4th 71 350 GSX that was sold at Sabau and there was at least 1 72 350 GSX sold there.

There was a gold 71 gsx with VA plates showed up in the mid 90’s at the GS Nationals , slightly rusty , unrestored condition .

With regard to the couple who owned the 71 silver GSX, I’m pretty sure one or both of them worked at the post office in Culpeper. So, you might be able to track them or a family member down pretty easily. That area along with Fredericksburg, VA always seemed to have a lot of GS cars around.
