Here are some pics. This is a 1972 Factory spoiler that was installed on a car. You can see that most of the paint has blown off the top, and is starting to come off on the bottom as well. It has the Factory mounting studs in it, which were only on the installed spoilers, NOS parts would be bare. You can see where some idiot drilled a hole in the middle near the front to install a CM antenna. The 72 factory spoilers were heavy and this one weighs around 16 1/2 pounds. Price of the part is $375.00 plus actual shipping costs, with a few dollars added for my time/materials with boxing it up. Enjoy. Duane
Yeah well the factory 71’s were around 12 pounds and the factory 72’s were heavier. Both the 71-72 spoilers required the thicker diameter trunk tension rods, like the ones used on the GTO’s with rear spoilers. ( Which I think are reproduced now.) It’s easy to make a 71 spoiler out of this, which is why I kept this for a spare. The 71,s have 2 larger vent holes underneath, with 1 in the center and 1 off to the driver side. The 72’s have the out laying hole off to the passenger side, so if you switch one of the holes you can make either year from the same spoiler. If you want one, this is the real deal. Not a factory replacement that was made years after the cars were built, but one that actually came off a car. If you want to throw numbers at this, it is 1 out of 70, as there were (quantity 26)1972 GS cars that came with rear spoilers besides the 44 GSX’s. Duane
Hi Duane, I’ve been away work, the spoiler looks good however it also needs allot of preparation to paint, let me think on it. Thanks, Z
Just for your information, Some of the reproduction spoilers are so bad that the top surface is wavy and needs quite a bit of prep work to smooth them out before painting. I don’t know if they are still that way but you might want to do a search to see if anyone has reviewed any of these parts before purchasing them. Duane
