Ooooh, triple black. Maybe not the best idea for a convertible but still looks nice. No mention of engine size, though you can call and ask I suppose. Those are not the factory side mirrors.
It's most likely a 350. If it had a 455, there would be a badge on the fender calling it out. Yeah, not a fan of those mirrors!
The mirrors look like the goofy break-aways that are required to be retrofitted in the EU. Otherwise it’s a pretty car! Patrick
It has a very rare Finger-tip Control Wiper option. See the little inset push button on the very end of the column shifter? It looks like a cruise inset button on the turn signal lever, just a little bigger. Those 40/60 split front bench seats are very comfy. These are great road cars. The triple black looks great, but in very hot summer states (Texas) ..... ouch. I am not seeing any 'Centurion' emblems on the front fenders. Replacement fenders maybe (from LeSabre or Electra)? Maybe filled-in emblem holes?
Was Centurion even available with a 350? I thought they were like the Wildcat, only made the big engine, which was why I thought they dropped it in 1974, smaller demand for the big engine combo, especially when LeSabre offered it for less.
There was no LeSabre convertible for 73 so the Centurion had to stand in for both thus offering a 350, the Centurion overall was homogenized for 73 making way for its demise.
Correct on the 455. There would be a badge on the front fender filled in with red. I have owned 6 total 1973 Centurions and regret selling 2. One was a Sherwood Green convertible with 55,000 original miles, green interior, fully optioned including the 455 and BRW. Sold for $900 to a guy in Minnesota that was going to part out. 2. Mike Sobotka sold me a big valve 1973 Coupe that I ended up selling. Issue was always marriage related. I would get cool cars in the garage and stare down a serious restoration and then my (now ex) wife would throw up a fuss and say she wanted a divorce. Then she would settle down and I would get confident and reload the garage, and the cycle would continue. But those were 2 cool full sizers. If I had them, and they were restored, I would be content for sure with a convertible and a coupe. I have owned 72 Centurions as well including a triple black coupe but the kind of nasty eyebrow look of the 73's make it my favorite.
Thanks for the info, guys, I learned something. The 73 line catalogue is one of the only ones I'm missing.
