I have a chance to score a great price on set of wheels, but they are 5x4.5 lug pattern, need 5x4.75 (72 Skylark).
Any experience out there with lug pattern adapters?
    Thanks

I can tell u they are illegal in Ontario, Canada. If have to have a safety check to sell or register your car & it has wheel spacers, car fails test.

I can’t speak for breakage issues with adapters, but how do spacers/adapters put any more stress on bearings than a wheel with less backspacing built in?

I see this idiotic trend of full size pickups with wheels sticking out so far I can see all their brake components - what is that doing to the driveline? That extra leverage against a heavy vehicle has to be damaging. And think of the path front wheels take! No longer just pivoting. The farther out they are placed from the hub the more they travel fore and aft.

im not sure i know the guys who ran them on the back of chevy trucks had alot of bearing failures. they only ran 1/2 inch ones. im guessing its alot more mass on the hub itself. i ran quater inch ones on a 95 grand prix and i did have a ton of brake problems and i did have to replace the bearings in the back once but never touched the front.
