I have been debating between resto hood tach and resto dash tach on my car, I do have a spare stock flat hood that I wouldn't be too sad to cut a hole in . . . But are they really that functional? Can you actually read them while driving?

They are just as readable as a dash tachometer. Might even be a bit better as you don't have to take your eyes off the road.

Don't judge my wiring; I'm getting to it, I swear! I had some screw holes under the dash already, so I didn't have to drill any new ones. It works for me because I can easily rip them out when I get tired of looking at them.

Whats the name of the base around the shifter? Shifter base or console? How does it mount?

It is a 64 4 speed consolette, 63 wildcat uses the same chrome plate but with a slightly taller plastic base.
It has one screw under the tri-shield emblem for mounting.
There were two for sale here a few months ago.

I know this mounting option is more strip than street, but I have been spending more time at the track than on the street ( it's safer). Oriented so I can see the shift points easier. Pic of the wifey in the clock spot . Line-lock arming switch and light to the right of her....

Nah. Never oogle another man's woman.

A glance and appreciation. But more than that is wrong.

I looked to see if it had the right number of pedals...
