I've raced a ton of Pontiacs at the Pure Stocks, I generally am able to put a couple car lengths on em, but then they MPH their way right back up.. then the question becomes can I make it to the stripe before they get by me. I also own a 72 Grand Ville conv that'll probably hit 300k miles this year. Terrific road car.... 14241511_10154588803044225_235451206786083955_o.jpg 380782289_24503908825863103_4751717717830311897_n.jpg IMG_4811.PNG IMG_0897.JPG

Ethan- my first "musclecar" was a 1970 GTO- red, black vinyl roof, red bucket interior. Too far gone to save but for a 14 year old, I tried.. LOL.

-Missed out on a Palladium Silver 1970 GTO Judge- guy removed the interior and driveline. New paint, stripes, straight, solid car- $7200
-1969 Mayfair Maize Judge with a crushed roof- numbers, $7000
-I looked at, test drove a 1070 Polar White 4 speed Judge- from Canada- with the WT1 sticker on the inner fender. Running, driving, 50% original paint. Needed a quarter and some other small things- asking $15,000... I think we finally got to $12,500.
-Earlier this year I looked at an OO code (orbit orange) Judge 4 speed with a factory 3.90. Original rear end... Needed paint, few other things, no rust or rot..He was at $30K. I think I would've bit at $25...

I have a G8 GT. Love it. Excellent fuel mileage and goes like a mofo. All that in a full-sized sedan. IMG_5510.jpeg

    Ethan,
While we don't have any fast Pontiacs, I do believe it would be easier and cheaper to make a fast Pontiac than a fast Buick.
I was born as a Pontiac enthusiast since the ride home from the hospital after my birth was in my parents' '66 GTO. They've now owned that car for 52 years. We didn't learn about Buick muscle cars until around 1983 when we subscribed to Classic Sixties magazine (which later became Muscle Car Review magazine).

    Our Pontiacs:
'66 GTO, 400, Edelbrock heads and intake, RA exhaust manifolds, M22 4-speed (just so we can hear that whine), 12-bolt with 3.31 gears, over 300k miles on the body
'67 GTO convertible, base 335 hp 400, TH400, Maroon paint, black top and interior
'69 GTO HT base 350hp 400, TH400, Mayfair Maize paint, dark brown vinyl top, gold interior.
    2000 Formula WS6 - LS1 :( 6-speed
We've also got a disassembled '70 GTO Judge project car stored here for a friend. Ram Air III, black bench seat interior w/ 4 speed, 3.55 gears, Atoll Blue with black vinyl top, 1 of 288 1970 GTO Judges built in Oshawa Ontario assembly plant

    Of course I can't find engine pics IMG_20230701_195545804.jpg IMG_20230527_103636686.jpg IMG_20221223_135910792.jpg IMG_20230701_141837859.jpg

Absolutely..the heads available are really nice...$3200 gets you 340cfm....Victor intakes...roller cams kits for 1k...roller rockers for 500...eagle 4.25 cranks in the shelf....8k could put together a beast....

I'm however leaning towards turbo power....so no need for any fancy stuff...a used torker 1...d ports and a forged piston and rod....easy 1k hp

I would like to do turbo 455 Buick mainly because I have everything and have zero Pontiac stuff....but I just bring myself to put a cross brand deal together....just can't

Before the '73 and after the '66 360hp SS Chevelle, my dad had this 390hp 428 HO Bonneville. The Chevelle and the Bonneville both ran 14.2s he said, but the convertible was was as his favorite by far... If it wasn't for being broiled in a summer rain storm while sitting in traffic towing the boat to the lake with the family, he might not have sold it for the Stage-1 with a/c.

Back in the early 2000s I built this 10:1 455 with cleaned up Edelbrock heads, Torker II intake for hood clearance, a custom Crane roller cr for a '69 Firebird.

Hard to argue with Pontiac's long history of blending performance and styling...

How did that 455 combo perform?

I hunted for the flow numbers on and off all day today, but 20-years, too many moves, and too many computer changes have taken their toll.

    Built in 2005
    .30 over 455
    Cleaned up Edelbrock Heads
    230-236 Custom Crane Hyd. Roller.
596/609 lift with HS Roller Rockers that actually measured out at 1.8:1
    114 installed @109
    9:7:1
    1-7/8" headers
    Torker II
    900 cfm AED Holley
According to my Performance Trends EA 3.4 program: 540 HP and 570 TQ (I have all of the dimensions like intake runner size, etc.)
For what it's worth: The EA program was only off 2% on my engine dyno tested 570 hp 572 tq 460.

The car was sold before we got it to the track...
