Anyone using a Sanden 508 compressor

On my '77 Regal, the Radial A/C compressor took the long sleep. I want to replace it with a Sanden 508. Is anyone on here using the 508 compressor? Do you like it and is it doing a good job of cooling your car?

I know I need the bracket for the 508 and some A/C line change out. That is not a great problem. My question is about the pump's abilities. (Using R-12.)

Thanks In Advance for any answers and/or help.

EDIT: By the way, I did search out Sanden 508s and the only information was that they were replacing the A-6 compressors and not the R-4s.

The Sanden 508 is a much better compressor than the R4. It's more reliable for sure. Refrigerant compatibility is not an issue. It is actually an upgrade to your system.

Folks replace the A6 with the Sanden to save weight, gain back a bit of HP or to add a serpentine belt system. AFAIK, there are no grooved pulleys for the A6. The Sanden is actually a slight downgrade, from a performance and durability standpoint on those systems.

Thanks lsrx101 for the reply. But, what about a bracket to mount the 508 on a '77 Buick V6?

Hose hookups, too. What's the advice on them?

Contact www.ackits.com by phone. They will work with you to figure out everything you will need. That's the best route because it will be a "custom" install. From your first post, it sounded like you had that part figured out already.
As a backup, Old Air Products supplies upfit parts for the Sanden too, IIRC.
