Anyone Wrapped a Sport Wheel?

Would you be able to do one without padding and this stitch pattern in all black?

 

I can definitely do one without padding. The issue might be that the Wheelskins covers are wider spaced holes. Let me see what I can do and I'll post up a test once I get a chance to do it.

The latest wheel I did was a tan one for a board member.

 

Bad news. Rates are going up.

Shipping has increased and in November, the price of Wheelskins will go up $7.

I think it is still reasonable at $150.

 

I finally got around to finishing the rewrap of the first wheel I did. It was listed above in post #201. I redid the exposed thread seam. It isn't perfect but it was an experiment and it was a cheap cover so just my time invested.

What are your thoughts? I don't know how it would turn out on the Wheelskins cover yet but this one only costs me thread and time to test it out.

Here's how it turned out. Not too bad. You can also see my helper that isn't much help since he lacks thumbs.

 

Looks good Greg! I would like a wheel skins cover without padding with that stitch pattern if possible. Do you think that's doable?

 

If your helper HAD thumbs, that would be just plain weird.

 

I can do it. I'll have to experiment with one to see how it looks. The spacing on the Wheelskins is wider between holes so the baseball stitch tends to look a little odd. I have a cover but I'm out of wheel cores. I might find one at the GS Nats and give it a try.

And I'd be in big trouble. He'd be into things he currently can't mess with but it doesn't keep him from trying. He gnawed up the sliding door handle trying to get outside.

 

I have one I could send to you if want..... Would the other brand cover work better for what I'm asking?

 

Finally getting around to posting my steering wheel pics. Big thanks to Greg for the help and supplies. Thanks buddy. Really happy with how it feels and best of all it’s no longer tacky!

If you are coming to the GS Nats, you could drop it off there and check out the one I just did. I already have a new Wheelskins cover if you want me to try it out. The cheaper cover does work well with this stitch style but it has an exposed seam at the bottom. The one I just completed was one I took and hacked up a bit and restitched it to hide the seam. The job on the seam isn't perfect but it was an experiment. I don't really have a way to sew leather so I was punching holes in the seam area with the sharpest needle I had. I only stabbed myself a few times. LOL
