Were there more colors than a black or brown dash and carpet and if how many? I'm asking this specificly for a factory ordered pearl white interior.. All the GS's that I have seen with the white interior have a black dash and carpet. Was a blue dash and carpet available when you ordered a diplomat blue exterior for example? It's just that some interior seat colors have a matching dash and carpet.
Black dashes and carpets were used with black and or white interiors. You couldn't get a blue dash and carpet with a white interior even though the exterior was blue also. This is all in the color and trim book
GM did start offering different combos later. In ‘72, Sun Coupes had contrast carpet, and I’ve seen several ‘73-‘81 Buicks and Pontiacs with white or oyster seats paired with red or blue dash, carpet and trim. Patrick
I'm having a hard time finding the 1970's trim book. Well i'm finding some but when enlarging the pics of the color charts?? I can't make out the writing.. I just need to look better probably. I'm throwing a guess that Buicks 1970 design department played with color choices and thought the blue dash and blue rug and other color matching maby didn't look good?? or was it a money issue to not produce them?
I doubt it was money; the years they did offer it there weren’t any extra colors, just a slightly more complicated assembly of colors they already had. Patrick
The back of the wholesale order form gave a little bit of info on colors, this is for a 69, I don't have an electronic file for 70 handy,
There is one car out there that is that red 70 prototype Stage 1 has a white dash. Talk about blinding!
I think if it had tinted glass it would cut down on the glare?? but they wanted the clear glass for show.
