Does anyone know what the badges mean on the side of the car. Most 62 specials I see have 3 badges on them minhas 2 plus the bar. Does this mean 62 and a half
Here's some reading for you on Venti-ports... https://www.macsmotorcitygarage.com/buick-portholes-a-10-minute-history/
...3 per side originally, I would guess one broke/lost when repainted and someone creative added piece of aftermarket trim...
This was my uncle's car and he had it since it was new, its 98% originally other than tires and the paint was recleared. Has only 52,342 miles on it.
I've never seen one like that or even similar that was oem. As mentioned above they came from the factory with 3 portholes. I'd be willing to bet something happened to one of the originals and that was how your uncle fixed it lol. Keith
1) That chrome strip is probably mounted with adhesive. GM was bolting everything through the sheet metal back then. So if it is adhesively mounted over bolt holes it is aftermarket. 2) is it absolutely the same on both sides? 3) Car would still be beautiful without any of them. It don't need no stinking badges!
2 port exhaust model does look interesting, wonder what the real story is. the hole covered up for the third one? Lets see if this was factory, it is a low mileage car.
...I'm sticking to my story, someone broke pins off at least one when removing/reinstalling after clearcoating, and covered up holes. If it had happened at factory, they would have just gotten another from bin...
It does look cool like that even though it is not correct. Tell everyone only 4 doors came that way lol
As to the attachment to Brad's post - When I was a kid someone either in or driving through our town had a '55 Century with the flashing lights in the port - er - Cruiserline Ventiports. I thought it was tacky then, as I do now.
