Buick Stock Appearing (V8) class at the GS Nats next week, anyone planning to race?

In the years past, there is usually a thread discussing this class but this year everyone is silent. Who is planning to go race their stock appearing V8 Buick? I've got my '67 GS conv out of mothballs and plan to race it in this class for the first time since 1998.

I hope others are planning to race also.

Here's a picture. I'll swap the wheels tomorrow for a set of black steel rims and small hubcaps so I can run this class, otherwise all else is already stock. Don't let the photo fool ya, the paint on this bucket of bolts is now more of a flat blue instead of gloss.

I hope some more guys show up and make it interesting.

Perry and I have been busy and havent been able to promote the class as in years past. Unfortunately, the economy and other issues are taking up more time than in the past. :(

However, there will be some cars for the class, so bring it on down and have fun!

will be coming to my first GS nats and curious about the racing. just haven't done it before - events I have been to were show only. also don't know how to drive to get the most out of the car. so will be getting there on Wed afternoon and want to talk to someone who can help me learn. then we will see. car would be in the stock appearing class - in restoring it I have tried to stay as original as I could. car has a BCA senior gold, so they think it is original appearing.

and tires may be a problem cuz I have the old polyglas on it.

The Stock Appearing class is setup so that every car has an equal chance of winning, regardless of e.t. so it won't matter if aren't the quickest. Hope to see you there with your car, I can assure you that racing your car will be a lot of fun.

If you don't find anyone else, I'd be happy to give you an introduction to racing. Look for the tall skinny red head and the Burgundy Mist 70, probably pitted by the fence at the end of the stands.
Polyglas are actaully better than street radials for racing.

I'm here as well as Dave Hemker. Look us up we're pitted along the river. Dave has extra tires if you want to try them.

I probably won't be there until Friday morning with my '67. I'll try to find a few of you class veterans and let you explain to me how things usually work i.e. is it an index class or a regualar dial-in style bracket class, when do we run, etc etc

I haven't run this class since 1998 so I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow, first I hae heard of this class. Maybe I'll build the wagon for it. since I cannot run in F.A.S.T with it. it's not a musclecar.

Can I swap in a BBB looks like there is no rule against it.

Please don't flame me here but there is already the GSE class. These SA rules are getting to be very close to the GSE rules. I see it leaning towards the GSE in the way that If your pockets are deep you can be a heavy hitter. I can see opening things up in the way of not worrying about castings#s on intakes and heads because there all pretty much the same. I don't see how you are going to draw more cars by uping the build cost. As a matter of fact I know of a SA car that has been in the works for the past few years and the owner is now thinking about doing something different with it. How many GSE cars where at BG and for that matter, how many SA cars were at BG? To keep people making the drive they should make it a bracket so anyone can win but crown the fastest legit car the king of the hill. Think about, I understand about leveling the playing field but couldn't that be done and still keep the spirit of (Stock Appearing) Again I don't want to step on anyones toes, I understand people have worked hard here.
