What do I need to look for when buying a 67 GS400? Is it a sort after car?

Deffinitely a rare and valuable care. Biggest worry is rust around the back window. Also rust in the quarter panels, as there are no reporductions.

I have a 67 GS 400 (455). The car gets more thumbs up and stares then any other car I've ever owned. The body lines are great in my humble opinion. You still see quite a bit of the 67 Chubs around but virtually none of the 67 Gs', at least where I live and in the 25 or so miles around. They made quite a few of these also, but not many left I suppose. Several members of this group own them.
I would suggest that if you get one, keep all the original parts, as I have done.
I planted a 70 455 in mine as well as an 8.5 3:90 rear end. It is truely a 'stang killer and with virtually no traction can still get into the high 13s.
I try to drive it as much as possible, nearly every day but with the price of gas out here in So. Cal. and around 9 or ten miles to the gallon, it's a pricy drive, still....the most fun. Oh, and with a switch pitch trans. Go for it, in my humble opinion.

Good quarters are a must. There are no repros and NOS are non-existant. Very few good quarters remain so be careful! Trunk, floors, and wheel weels are all common items and are easily replaced.

Good luck, the 67 GS400 is an awesome car!!

Qrtr,s are BIG in my opinion. Just nothing out there for us to use if they're bad. Also if its a real GS , you better hope you get a good grille and the magical star wars air cleaner assy. complete. Either of these are gonna bring big time $$$ if you find them. It's nothing to see a air cleaner assy. in the $500+ range at all. A good grille I think would be in the same boat. Other than that, the area around the rear window likes to rust(mine did), but there are some parts I have learned that can be used to repair this. I like the 67's the best bar NONE !!! Glad to see another out there, and hope the one your looking at turns out good for ya...........
