Talked to Tim at TA yesterday about my order for my aluminum heads, They said they're behind due to having to cast more 455 heads, the foundry is behind due to Covid and such, plus I didnt get my order in till August (kinda late) I told Tim no big deal, I understand EVERYONE'S schedule is upside down these days, and Im not one of those people that feel entitled. Also just wanted to make sure all was good as far as my "options" I want on the heads. 2.02/1,6 valves Level 2 porting Milling another .020 off the surface to get my compression over 11 to 1 Told Tim Im at 11 to 1 now with irons with no issues, I wanna jack it up more w/aluminums
Not that I asked for, but I know my machinist and Mike Sr had a lengthy conversation when he ordered piston, heads and cam. So it could be possible. Didn’t notice anything on the billing.
Man I really wanted to see 300cfm from these heads,...but considering how terrible the stock heads are it is an improvement
Im going to call them again today to get another update. When I initially called to place the order, IIRC I was told they had a couple sets left. When I called a bit ago, I remember being told they were doing a run of big block heads first. After that call I was under the impression they were out of the 350 heads, and were doing a run of BB heads first. If the 350 heads are not cast yet, I guess I'll wait, I already have 2 grand down, and I trust TA, so Im not concerned about being ripped off. In the mean time, maybe this spring I can run down the track again (and again and again) try lower shift points. I also want to try running with the stock GS air cleaner, see if it slows me down by a measurable margin.
The GS air cleaner will suck air out of the carb at high speed don't bother making a run with it. Basically non functional at speed.
