I’ve got myself in a jam I can’t figure out how to push the piston back into the caliber it ratchets out tighter each time do you push the emergency brake..... in my case I was fooling around with it I Cocked with my hand a couple of times ... of course piston came out ... and now I can’t put the pads in and put it back on the rotor. Feeling pretty dumb on this one..... if I don’t get it back together I won’t make it to the nats !!!! HELP !!!!!!
Do you need to wind the piston back down? That is how my Honda brakes work. There is a special tool for that if you can't improvise. It looks like you could carefully use a screw driver in the notches, be careful not to tear the boot.
thanks NZ GS400 ......I NOW SEE I NEED A TOOL to rotate the piston and compress the piston at the same time ... on you tube thanks
Pair of needle nose pliers works for brakes as clean as those. You may need 90 Degree needle nose though.
Whenever you see notch's cut into rear caliper pistons like you've got, you need one of these.........https://www.amazon.com/OrionMotorTe...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== Makes life much easier and only costs like $25!
I bought a kit on Ebay that works on all of those types of calipers. The piston has to be screwed back in to the caliper. Some are CW, others are CCW. The kit is cheap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/332810491657?hash=item4d7d0d1709:g:kz0AAOSwagJgEnUn
I see these in parts stores as well, https://www.amazon.com/Supercrazy-B...&keywords=caliper+tool&qid=1620567773&sr=8-21 I bought the kit because it was cheap enough and I have used it on the back of my 98 Riv a number of times.
