Chevy 12 bolt A body mounting differences

    I started another thread in here about changing a 12 bolt Chevy to a nine inch, and was looking to understand whether or not UMI Performance coil over shock brackets (p/n 4057 https://www.umiperformance.com/home...-body-rear-coilover-bracket-kit/#&gid=1&pid=1) would transfer to a Quick Performance nine inch housing. I was told no, but after looking at a bunch of photos of 12 bolts I was lead to this question. I've found two different configurations of the brackets to bolt the shocks and trailing arms to the housing (see attached two photos).

    I thought the housings were basically interchangeable, so what's up with the difference?

    The second picture,with the chrome cover,is a Moser housing. It has raised upper ears and moved the shock mount directly behind the lower control arm.
