That is pretty sad that I didn't run faster on that run. We had almost identical RT's (.16 to .17) and most of the head wind had gone away at that time, so I am not sure what was up with my car. My first pass was a 14.06 so I figured if the head wind went away I would pick up a little. Oh well. Thats racin! I tip my hat to Chris, his car was running good and I was happy to finally see it going down the track, and really didn't mind getting beat cause that was a fun fender to fender last pass of the day!

Even though I spent most of my time in the staging lanes, (3 passes in 4 hours), I brought my 2 daughters to their first drag race and I think they had a pretty good time. They did enjoy the wheel stands, and the roar of the engines as the cars tore down the track didn't seem to bother them after they got used to it. I am looking forward to spring and running there again. I will post a few pics when I get a chance.

On a side note, 3 new Camaros were there and I believe the people that brought 2 of them only made a run or two and broke them both in some way. One of them was lined up against Eddie in the Scrambler and did his burnout and didn't even stage the car cause something happened. They then had to push him off the lane. Gotta love it!!

yeah, tell me about it... Eddie and I had nearly identical RT's (.006 diff), if my car would have ran like it did the last time out, we would have been within a car length at the finish line. I wasn't using very nice language the whole way down the track on that run...

You weren't using nice language the entire time you were at the track. :eek2:
But that was because of other reasons also. It was a test and tune and you sure were doing that!

I feel your pain Chris, My Torino had to be retired for the same reason.
She was definatly the ugly duckling there , I had primer on the rear quarters.

She just needs some lipo and new paint and the torino will rise again!! Of course the wife will be racing it then.

You could always have Maaco just shoot the rear quarter??

By "new Camaros", I assume you mean the 2010s? If so, lemme guess: broken cv/axles??

I haven't seen Jim post here yet...did he better his 12.2x's from Stanton????

Sig? I don't see any sig. The time that's on the board against the gold convertible is the only one I see. :bglasses:

my 13.93 run was against one of those 2010 camaro's. RT were near identical, but I left him at the line with my best 60 ft and led him most of the way down the track. I kept looking and waiting for him to blow by me but it never happened. he eventually passed me. he ran like a 13.7 @ 105

Mr Lerum never made it. found out he got pink eye Sat

Tim I vaguely remember seeing your Torino at one of the events. Unforunately, my W-31 has never been able to participate. At an Olds Homecoming show in Lansing several years ago, Dave H introduced Dan and Dennis to me and in talking with Dan basically the answer was no, which I can understand.

I was planning on shooting the rear quarters and roof earlier this year just to give myself more practice and make the car all one color (instead of primer, rust and powder blue). Never mind the quarters are flapping in the breeze. Alas, I had to yank the drivetrain out of the GT-37 and have fun doing my first clutch and trans R&R. Then I did some bodywork on the GT-37 trunklid before painting it to match (came out like utter sh!t compared to when I did the hood a couple years ago. oh well, it's only practice and not the original trunklid to the car anyway. live and learn). I guess the trunklid was presentable enough because I wasn't asked to not bring the car back

our race could have gone either way. We were both off what we could/should have done. Like he said, thats racing. Kevin did MUCH better than his prior run which was smoking the passenger rear tire the first 60 feet. I went back and told him, I hope your anti-spin is going out.

We'll line them up again on a nite w/o those chaos cars around. But my car, his car and Paul and Tami's H/O are all within a tenth of each other. So ought to make for some GREAT grudge match racing when we do this again.

I didn't make it because I got pink eye. I had to go to urgent car Saturday morning. It is what it is.

I had a good time I wish I could have run a few more passes but Im lucky any passes were made. Thanks to everybody that helped out getting my car running again.I never thought that a bad MSD rev limiter chip could make a car shut down and not restart.2 hours of messing with it ready to give up and on a wimm tried a diffrent chip and it fired right away.First pass I had a best ever 1.82 60 ft and ran a 12.54 at 108.8 with that head wind was a good pass .Next pass I spun the track surface was cooling down fast as the day got later.I hope to see you guys there again next time Thanks Steve

Yeah, the 2010 Camaros. Not sure what happened to either of them.
Spent to long in the staging lanes to wander over and ask seeing as they were parked at the far end of the parking lot.

Luke your going to have to work on your language for next springs test and tuning. I almost missed second gear in the scrambler because I was hearing all this swearing. I thought it was me but know I realize it was coming from the car next to me! What a fun day It was good seeing everyone again out running there cars. We did have a personal best with the scrambler as luke mentioned. It was hooking up good and I figured out that I wasn't putting my foot all the way down to the floor board because of the carpeting.:Dou: Oh well, we have a few things to do to it this winter and hopefully it will keep going faster next year. I would like to thank the Panczuk's for hosting the after party as well. It was a perfect way to end a day at the track.

With the number of cars and the head winds I almost, I said almost, wish we would have stayed home. My son did have better 60' 1.9 something, but best ET was 13.50, MPHs were down, 102 was the best, lost about 2. No matter what we did to the car all four runs were about the same, 13.50 to 13.54. If nothing else he was consistent.

Hopefully next time it won't be as windy and fewer cars. Also I need to find a better route to the track, the back roads of Indiana were a little scary at times.

I think the biggest thrill for my son was giving that new Hemi Charger a spanking :3gears:

I will also agree about the new Camaros, not sure what happened to them, but I'm thinking they should stay off of the track. My favorite two cars were the nice red and white 55 Chevy, and the rough and ready, multicolored 56 Pontiac, "Old Injun" Guess I'm showing my age.

You were discussing the racing at the Amphitheater in Chicago. I only did it once, but the racing wasn't bad and the columns weren't bad, it was when you went thourgh the doors and found yourself on a snow covered parking lot that I didn't like. Of course I was only 16 or 17 at the time and I knew everything and nothing could hurt me. Were those really the "good old days"?

glad you guys came out! we shoulda given you some better directions... we called Rich in the morning, would have given him the directions, he had mentioned he had only left you a message on the cell.

we had a few people walk up and go "are there TWO of these things here?"

shoulda set up some money races for you guys... we could qualify with our blistering 14.30's, and then you guys could go lay some smack down.

Bob I was glad you guys came out. Your SC/rambler looked and ran good. I'm sorry we weren't more social but there was so much going on. Hopefully next spring we could just go on a test and tune day were there wont be as many cars. The "Old Injun" was a friend of my dad's and we were all impressed it ran a 14.01 with a two barrel that was running out of fuel. It was an actual race car from the early 60's but I couldn't tell you what class. In response to the chicago Amphitheater my grandfather use to go there and watch them run and I heard it was a wild time. I really wish I grew up in that time period.

LOL...the few hours our '10 Camaro was in our possession I thought it did fairly well at the track...ought to be a *tad* better when we get it back. :TU:

Some good 60' times, but a bummer about the head wind...of course, a day at the track beats a day at work any day, right? :Brow:
