It's still in my area in a private collection. Mike, I think the one way valve to the vacuum booster may be bad. There is no power assist. Haven't looked into it yet. Brakes work, you just have to exert more pedal pressure.
Mike, I thought of our conversation about Corvette 3-speeds when I was looking at one on craigslist out in California. 65 300 hp coupe with a 3-speed. Looked like a great driver. Good luck with the 'vette!
Mike, I still have the bittersweet mist / pearl white convertible you sold me a while back. It’s still going along well. I had some issues a while back with the thrust bearing and did a quick fix to get it back on the road. I just spoke with Jim Weise on building a new engine for it last week! I’ll get to drive her as is for the summer and then the new engine will get installed over the winter.
Gary ,it’s got Manual windows and locks, no cruise, bench seat, column shift. But it has sports mirrors, tilt column, rally steering wheel, A/C, power roof. It had an aftermarket stereo in it but I installed a factory Am Fm in it. I’m not sure which of the options are original, the date codes on the sports mirrors are incorrect so I suspect they are not original.
I'm so glad you still have the car to enjoy and are able to maintain it. You bought it from me eight years ago already. Sorry to hear about problems but it's 50 years old. So age, use, lack of use are all factors. A new engine from Jim would be cool indeed. A couple of options you didn't mention. N25 thru the bumper exhaust which is very nice, and I believe it had a factory trailer hitch (gone) which is why there are empty bolt holes in the rear bumper. I was told originally a Colorado car, original engine replaced after failure from pulling trailer in the mountains. Can't verify that but it makes sense.
I was just driving it yesterday, I had to go get my annual safety inspection. It’s 50 years old now and has 48k miles on her. The issue I had was a wiped thrust bearing, it has an odd torque converter in it which has 6 mounting feet. One of the feet was resting on the balance weight on the flex plate creating thrust that took out the thrust bearing. I went through the engine, replaced the bearings but it really needs a new crank. Jim is going to build a new engine for me with one of his super stage 1 roller cams and the aluminum heads that I put on it several years ago. It should be good for another 50 years once that engine is in the car!
