Anyone already made a pattern for a replacement detent? I have a 72 Lark with the console shifter that I'm swaping a 4L60E into. I'm hoping someone has done this and kept a pattern for the new detent that they would be willing to share.

Console or column? There is a company that does sell them for consoles. Need to ask my brother. Troys69gs. He is swapping in. 4L80, but detents are the same. View the 4L80 sticky thread in this section.

Console. I have seen the kits available and the prices are ridiculous. The 4L80E is the same pattern? I plan to share the pattern I create so it should help people with a 4L80 too. I'll check out the 4L80 thread. Thanks.

I made a template of the new shift detent, bit it matters not. shiftworks sticker only replaced the 68 69 center console info. I was going to cut out a 70s, but no need.

plenty of room between N and D for either grinding a notch or welding a nub. I just had to grind a notch.

Your neutral start switch will be off and the distance between park and reverse is reduce as is the distance to neutral and drive.

Hmmmm... Good point. I did loose the neut safty switch, and i did have to make a bracket and holder for a micro switch for rev lights. I can live without the NS switch. Just dont start your car in rev. Or foot off brake. Manual trany cars dont have them.
