Long story but i didn’t like his answers to some of my questions,
Picked it up Friday, only thing done was disassembled and hot tank, parts were scattered all over shop, took him 20 min to find my main bearing caps, I’m pretty sure I got all the parts,
But I noticed there is no stamps on the caps , should he have stamped them in order?
Also when he disassembled it he asked what the screens over the water jackets was for?
When I look at it I think it is head gasket material, also found this inside block in water passage

There are numbers cast into the caps. 1-5 number one starting at the front of the block.
That metal was used to help hold the sand cores together during the casting process.

Ya I saw the casting numbers on the caps,
The thing inside the water cavity kinda resembles a t handle tool kinda like a chainsaw wrench for tightening chain, but no spark plug socket

Some leftovers from the casting process sometimes show up in the block and cyl head coolant passages. If you'd like, you can carefully break into smaller pieces and remove.

Yes, casting scraps. Nothing to worry about . Leave it or cut it out.
