They ARE carbon core. The carbon degrades sitting on the shelf.
IF they really cared they would make a SUPERIOR wire like Larry mentioned. Of course it would probably cost twice as much.

I’ve used the ones Jim linked for 100 years or so. Although they don’t get used much anymore, they work well when needed. I’m on my 3rd pair.

I used this video for guidance when I did the MSD wires on the GS400

Never had a problem with the LL date coded plug wires, have used a dozen or so sets. Have a set on the latest build here in the shop.. my only issue is they are too perfect in length, and the 4/7 swap cam is playing havoc with wire routing/lengths..

LL will make me a custom length wire, for a price$$$ but that may be the way we have to go here.

yes, they are carbon core wires, just like the originals. I would wager that the vast majority of the cars these end up on, might be driven 15 thousand miles in a decade.. and if you can afford something worth worrying about putting date coded wires on, the cost of a new set (same price as a tank of $5/gal premium) is not going to be prohibitive.

They fill a nice nitch in the marketplace.

Yeah, I agree Jim. Would be nice if they just made them spiral core. I mean, who would know except maybe the owner?

I actually would be more worried about the insulation, than the core... I have been zapped by more than a few aftermarket wires that "looked" brand new. But, I consider cap, rotor, plugs and wires to be disposable parts anyway.. most folks run them much longer than they should, but again, most of these cars don't get a ton of miles on them either.

I think LL is more worried about "exact reproduction" than lifespan or performance. I would say that the majority of these wires are probably on show cars, that get driven very little, if at all. There are certainly exceptions, the set sitting out in the shop right now will certainly see some miles.

I am going for pre-cut to correct lengths so I don’t have to mess with them, and they only cost about $20 more than the wires at my local O’Reilly’s.

Well, I got my LL wires and did a tune up this weekend with NGK 6630 spark plugs, new AC Delco distributor cap and rotor and my car is running better than it ever has since I got it. I will let everyone know if I have any problems, but so far I am pretty happy with LL.

First of all, they got me my order within just a few days.

I most liked that they were all cut to correct lengths so I didn’t have to mess with them. They also send you a sheet along with your order listing all of the lengths to use and in what order. I very much appreciated that. They even send along the dielectric grease and Q-tips to apply it with.
