I have a 70 455 Stage-1 Engine, that is being Built, to Basic Factory Specs,.. except I am thinking about using an electronic Ignition Conversion kit, by Lectric Limited just to make it run smoothly. I want this Engine to Last a long time..Run smoothly and keep a Stock appearance.
However, if I use this kit..what kind of Bronze Distributor Gear should I use on this otherwise Stock Distributor..???
    Or...
should I stay with the Steel Distributor Gear...??
I also had TA Performance add an adjustable, High volume Oil pump kit, to the Timing Cover. Along with that, I am using the Deeper TA performance Oil Pan with 5/8 Oil Pickup Tube.

Why does it require a special gear? It seems it wouldn't put any more of a load on the cam
    gear than stock!

The only reason I could think of to use the bronze gear, would be if you were running a roller cam that required it.

    russ455 No longer a bubbletop

or high volume oil pump. it saves the hard to swap parts.

    My
CAM, Dual Groove Cam Bearings Timing Chain & Gears, and Stage-1 Valve Springs are ALL.. just One step up, from Stock. THE distributor is being converted to a Stock appearing Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit. I bought all Parts for this Build from TA Performance.
It will NEVER be Raced...I have Too-Much Invested to risk it.
It will be a Cruiser,...Route 66 and Such.
Thank you, for your help. I am learning something new Every Day here.

    Greetings, Stage-2 Iron
I haven't seen it for awhile....it's Illinois at the Machine Shop..that is who is assembling it for me.
I think TA Performance put a Gear Oiler on the NOS Timing Cover as well. All of this was Done per my orders. I had read about all these add-ons, in one of the Steven L. Dove's, Buick Performance Books. The Book gave Detailed instructions on How to "Bulletproof your Engine." ...!!! I think that's where I got the Idea. I was afraid of Risking any Oiling issues that could Ruin my NOS Engine. My problem is I don't know enough about Engines...so I have to rely on others to guide me.
Another big problem is, I can no longer do much of anything myself even if I knew how...due to my Military Injuries.
Iam too close to getting this done & I Never Give Up.

Especially if you use heavier than normal 10/30-10/40 engine oil. It's always a good idea to warm up ANY engine before driving.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

I did overkill, TA Pump/cover, bronze gear, oiler, and low profile gallery plugs with tiny hole drilled in passenger gallery plug. (Roller cam/rockers) extra capacity pan.

    430, oil through pushrods,
grooved bearings, and have 40-60 pressure cold, 15-20 heat soaked, and 60 anytime I touch the pedal. (Reading oil pressure off the rear passenger gallery, idiot light off front oil sender port.)

I am all for doing anything to improve the stock oiling.

Your story makes me feel better...I also like to be prepared for Anything. We have too much Time and Money wrapped up in these cars to Risk anything going wrong, that could have been Prevented with a little Foresight.
I do have a Question for you about the Bronze Distributor Gear...
How Often or how Many Miles run do you have to remove Distributor to Check for wear.?
