I'm trying to get my ac working on my 64 Skylark. That was going fine until I went to hook up the belt. To make a long story short I found out that I need a double pulley on the alternator. I ordered one that I thought would work but it doesn't. It fits fine if I take off the fan blade but thats obviously not an option. If the fan blade was flat and not concave it might work but the grooves in the pulley don't line up. The alternator that is on it now is an "Autolite pro-tech 7122". I wonder if that's my problem or I just need a different pulley.
Some words of wisdom would be helpful.

    alec296 i need another buick

Pulley should flatten a steel fan blade , when you tighten it. Maybe just a different pulley. Maybe it can be milled down a 1/16?

I put a Powermaster hi-amp alternator on my 65 Skylark. Also ordered their two-groove alternator pulley. Both have worked fine.

I think you have the wrong pulley. I'll try to get a pic

You probably have the one on the right and you need the one on the left. buick pulley 1961408 small 001.JPG buick pulley 1961408 small 002.JPG

A 7122 is the correct alternator

Be sure to click on the last pic, the small thumbnail one. It is the best view. The one on the left is correct for your application and the one on the right is not. I'm thinking you have the one on the right, Can you show a pic of your pulley?

Update. I found out about a place near me that rebuilds starters and alternators so I took my alternator, old pulley and new pulley and he took one look and went into the back and came back with a flat fan blade, shorter spacer and he put my aftermarket pulley on and it fit perfectly. I took it home and put the alternator and new ac compressor back on and everything lines up. Life is good!
Thank you all for the responses.
