I ran into a fellow the other day that was looking for an early 60s Aluminum V8 to put in a street rod. Does anyone have one or know where one might be?
He's talking about the Buick 215 motor. There are a lot of them around if you look in the right place, cause they are not sitting out in the open on display lol. Keith
I was going through a guy's garage last week and I noticied that he had an all aluminum 215 motor on an engine stand with a 2 4-barrel intake on it. There was no name or numbers on the intake. Is this a rare piece - I couldn't find anything on the internet where they put that on those motors.
That intake is an aftermarket and very rare. I have only seen pictures of it. I would love to have the opportunity to see it in person. I think I may know of the person and motor that you seen last week. I believe he's a member of our Facebook group. Keith
I have one of the dual quad 215 intakes. No markings anywhere. The carb “stands” are very similar to an Edelbrock B262 Nailhead Intake. See pic.
I don't know anything about the 215 stuff. What would be the value of that intake and motor that probably needs to be rebuilt? The owner wants to sell them.
I know of a Buick 215 Block, but its bare, and will need to be freed up. Has iron liners, to best of my knowledge. Think they were used in Boats, as well, you might check out some boat sites.
A range rover engine may be easier to come by. Up to 2004 it was almost the same. Change out the intake for a carb intake and it would look the part.
Thanks guys, I'm working on locating one for him, no luck yet. He's in the east Atlanta area if anyone know where one might be.
