    I was thinking the same thing, Diesel internals are usually heavy, not normally suited for that type of rpm.

    100 PSI of boost plus nitrous will do that to you.

    Weren't there some warning signs that something wasn't right way before things went boom that he ignored?

    Ya think? It was making some really bad sounds just before the end. Cummins redline is like 4400RPM I think it was trashed before it grenaded

    Here was my 7500 RPM run at 20 psi using a $200 test dummy Buick 350. Surprisingly during the tear down only a head gasket failure was found, all bearings looked fine. Should be fun with the good engine in there.

    Lucky no one was hurt there. The only time I was injured as a spectator at a motorsports event was a tractor pull. Got whacked in the face buy a chunk of an exploding turbo. "Sitting in the grand stands minding my own business when......."
    Here is the answer to the question - How much boost is too much? Note the block is split at the camshaft. They had added extra head bolts to prevent head gasket fail. boom 2.jpg Here is the new week point.
