I am rebuilding my 70 Buick Skylark. I remove the evaporator case and notice a 1 inch diameter hole next to the blower motor. The hole had nothing in it it was open. Does anyone know what that hole was meant for.

    Thanks for the help

Plastic fitting with rubber hose going to another hole in the blower motor for cooling the motor

Thanks. Just wondering now if the motor I have is incorrect. The motor I have has two rubber caps on the sides of the motor. Looks like I can remove one to insert a fitting. However it does not look like the motor has an external vent. If I add cooling air to the motor where does it vent out?

Probably just vents past the shaft into the air stream.... or is there a small drain hole for water? You can also drill a hole in the other cap. My '72 just has a rubber hose thats flanged on the motor to snap in and a flanged connector with 3 screws to the evap box.. I dont recall any vent. ws

Awsome, thanks for the picture. That part is missing from the car. I I've been trying to find this tube with no luck. Thinking of trying to make one.

Its a real supple black rubber piece. You should be able to find one from one of the cars for parts in the for sale section. If I had an extra youd get it for gratis. Its one of those parts ya toss over your shoulder when junking to get to the stuff you need. Where ya from??? ws

Ford's E-series vans have a hose almost identical to this. Your local dealer can get you one since they are still using them on at least through the 2019 model year.

I have tried to locate this on Google and rockAuto. Do you have a part number by chance? Does Ford call it a cooling tube? Thanks.

Necessity is the mother of invention. It isn't like anyone will ever see it after it is installed.
