65WILDKAT A PROUD FATHER OF THREE!

Can some one post a exploded view picture of a 66 SP 400 Trans. I am looking to find the seal that is located where the shaft connects to the Slip yoke. Also anyone know how hard it is to replace it? :puzzled: :Do No:
    Thanks,
    Don

Are you talking about the "rear seal"?....The rearmost seal on the transmission, where the slip-yoke goes into the tranny?

They are not very hard to replace....but, there are several different sizes for TH-400's. If you inspect it closely, there should be a part number and vender name visible (I think its on the outward face??). You may need to clean it off some and, depending on your vision, use a small magnifying glass. Anyway, any parts store would be able to cross reference your part # to their stock. If you have no luck finding the number, then just rmove it and take it with you.

There are "seal removers" that make it easier to remove seals like these, but a selection of screwdrivers, a hammer and some patience will do the job just fine. :TU: The new one is simply tapped into place...carefully.

    Hope this helps.

The rear seal for the 66, which will use the samller 1.68 diameter yoke is the same a s a Ford c-6 tranny. Alot of places won't list the seal for the early 400, but they will for the c-6. Just thought you'd like to know. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES

It's called the rear seal, or tailhousing seal. Jim Burek
