Actually Facebook collects and stores data on people who have NEVER used Facebook! They are in the business of selling your data.

True and they track your location. Have gotten notices from FB that customers which I had been at their houses that day have in common friends and I should friend request them. Other than the service call there was no other prior contact with these people. So how did FB know I was there?

You have location services turned on in your phone.

I'm no longer astounded with how many people live vicariously and virtually through some connected device. My phone is a phone, period. It never goes online for any purpose. Don't use any preprogrammed apps, nor have I added any.

Was getting some blood work done a couple days ago at a new clinic inside a shopping mall. While waiting for my turn, almost every other person there was glued to their phone. Spent my time day dreaming and watching all the masked sheep...er people walking past the door. :D:D

True, and you also have the Facebook APP installed on the phone, and you have allowed it to access your location...

The Facebook App also likes to suck up your entire address book/contact list if you aren't careful, SO EVEN if you aren't sharing your location with it, it's possible for it see a new phone number/address entry and then identify the new contact.

    Super creepy.

Its a source of information and entertainment, like a book. Could be good or bad. You could use it to find out about protecting yourself and others from contagious diseases.

Unfortunately with my job I don't have that option. We have to use several phone apps for bonuses/payroll/emails and vehicle reports not to mention e logs. Oh and credit card expenses are that way now.

I'm in about 5 Buick groups on Facebook. It seems like there is a new bunch of people getting into this hobby who know very little. I do what I can to help. I'm in the process of restoring a Porsche 928, a very complicated car. I would be lost without the folks in the 928 group!

A book isn't connected to the rest of the planet. I have a desktop at home for information and research purposes.

It annoys me that some people "assume" others know nothing about anything without being connected 24/7/365. It's also an insult to my intelligence.

Being semi retired that's not an issue for me. I work part time and installing the employer app has been "suggested". I'll consider that when they supply and pay for all the phone costs. I rarely use data on my own phone. Guess that makes me way behind the curve. :D

Data usage can sneak up on you... Use the mapping? Data! Listen to radio or music? More Data. Even many of the simple messaging apps (like iMessage, What's App, Signal, etc.)

For many, it's the first and only way they access the internet...

I do understand the frustration many feel in regards to the amount of totally wrong information that is on facebook but I take Facebook for what it is. Facebook is a lot of people from all walks of life. If I want correct information on anything I try to go to a place that specializes in what I am trying to learn about. This is one reason I like this board. Many people on this board have a lot of knowledge about Buicks. I like it when we all discuss things like adults about what our experience is with cars we own now and in the past. I have learned a lot from many on this board but I also enjoy meeting people from all walks of life that may not be experts in Buicks. Many people love Buicks just like I do. I have made friends with many "car guys" on Facebook. Some members think they know things about certain Buicks but when I discuss what I believe is correct and I explain my reasons with them many times they are thankful for information that I share. I try very hard to not act like I know it all because every day I still learn from others about Buicks. I am not very good with spelling and grammar so I will never put someone down as long as I think they are trying to communicate the best they can. Some people blast people and I really hate that. I have been blasted when I have wrote things incorrectly or used bad grammar. Sadly, I didn't do as well as others in school but members putting people down like some of them do is just being far to rude in my opinion. Social media is full of hate and people treating each other badly. Maybe I don't agree with things people post but I also don't feel like I have to be a jerk to them either.

I agree with you. And as I stated above, I was only messing with Max Damage and meant it light hearted.
I see a lot of mis spelled words and bad grammar, along with incorrect punctuation in a lot of places, not just here. Our local newspaper is bad about it. Probably a lack of proof reading. I'm no expert either, and don't usually say anything.

My apologies if I offended anybody with my comment.

Michael you are fine. I wasn't referring to you or anyone on this thread. I was just pointing out some take things to far. Some members are just picking with me and I can take that, its when things get hateful or mean that I don't like. You will also notice if someone says mean things others sometimes want to jump on board and put people down. lastly I wanted to say don't expect to much from Facebook. Facebook is just a wild and crazy place for everyone with a keyboard.
