Hi everyone, I am finally getting started on restoring my 70GS, it is a Harvest Gold color, black top, black interior, bench with the shifter on the column.

My body guy is bringing me the frame and I want to change all of the suspension system and brake system. I see OPG sells a whole kit for $3-4k, from CPP......

I want to restore it to its former glory and the only things i want to update are the suspension and brake systems without breaking the bank. This is a keeper and would rather get everything brand new and upgrade it where i can have fun with it. Not going to race it or anything like that.

I want to start getting the colors for the engine and I am asking what brand/s and colors should be painted on the engine? and trans?

Any other advice would greatly be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    William

Welcome - Awesome to see the 350 cars get some attention - Unfortunately also a labor of love (mine is a basket case) but...

Tons of information in the archives and lots of knowledgeable ppl on here. Get yourself an assembly manual if you don't have inw and of course the Chassis & Body Service Manuals which you probably have.

Welcome William! I get the update suspension and brakes, but ask yourself why? Rebuilding the stock suspension and going to stock disc brakes on the front (if you have drums) is cost effective and surprisingly good on the road. Adding front and rear sway bars, bigger than stock, will be very rewarding. The only real issue with the factory front suspension can be corrected by using taller ball joints to correct the camber geometry.

    Welcome from Florida!

Start a post on the updates and progress that you make, in the Members Rides section. I love watching and reading these, as well as have one of my own going.

I'm in the process of the brakes/suspension right now. I chose to just upgrade my car to front disc brakes, 1" lowering springs, better shocks, and the F41 type lower control arms. All of the rest of the suspension will be stock with new ball joints and bushings. I'm not going for any canyon carving or road racing with it, though. Just a better driving/stopping cruiser.

Welcome to the site and hobby!

We restore these cars and know them inside and out. I believe this is what separates us from the big name vendors. We know the cars and we know the parts......

Let me know if I can help in any way!
