I was hoping to tap into your knowledge about the 350 Buick. My pictures are lost on a crashed hard drive, so putting the hoses back is a challenge. I am specifically referring to the vacuum hoses. My car was originally a 2 barrel and I swapped the intake and have a correct 4Bbl rochester. My car was air conditioned and that is not going back on. I did not put the throttle solenoid back on, nor did I put the little manifold fitting with 2-3 vacuum ports either. Where does the vacuum advance from the distributor go? The 4bbl has 3 vacuum ports on the front and one in the back. There is also a rear PCV valve and grommet that go into the open hole at the back of the manifold (see picture) There is also a brass fitting where a flared piece of fuel line screws in and Im not certain where this goes. power brakes? There is also a hole in the drivers valve cover which Im pretty certain goes into the air clearer assembly.. but I'm not going to use the 4bbl air cleaner assemble in favor of an open element one, so i think I can just put a filter vent in there? What and where do I need to hook up and what can I plug up?? Please look at my photos and make recommendations.. Finally, a silly question - can I run the engine with a dry auto transmission, or do I need this filled? I'm not going to drive it, just run the engine. Thank you!
You have put some work into that engine. Please Please Please get rid of the rubber hose on the fuel line. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
I will say how I have mine set up if I can remember, please everyone correct me if I'm wrong. Vacuum advance goes to the port on the right of the fuel inlet port. Pcv goes around to the large port on the front. The other one on the front I have going to the air cleaner snorkel but you can just plug it. The rear one I believe would go to your brake booster, can be plugged as well. You can just put a breather on the valve cover but they are an odd diameter so it might be a bit of a struggle. The rear port on the manifold should go to your Trans I believe. Should be able to just plug that with a 1/8th npt plug. DO NOT run your Trans dry.
X10, get the correct fuel line from pump to carb:idea2: If you don't want to fill the trans and you want to start the engine, disconnect the torque convertor from the flexplate, otherwise you WILL FRY THE OIL PUMP IN THE TRANS:spank:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Buick-...Parts_Accessories&hash=item255939529b&vxp=mtr Here is the Stage 1 version . They also have the regular 455 one. VERY cheap insurance. Also Great advice from Mark about leaving the Convertor unbolted from the flexplate.
Thanks guys! I will order that fuel line. That was temporary just to get her running. I'll just fill the transmission up instead of unbolting it.
