Has anyone tried to reproduce the cluster decals for the fuel, speedo, and possibly dash tach?
    dash pad too........

Since i'am refurbishing this area would be nice to clean up the clusters and replace decals.

I have found that Inline tube are making them as a kit , which they are only using 1 possibly just for the fuel cluster.

I might just end up making my own, simple enough to do, just wondering what was being done.
Do you know what the lettering's mean on them example "AW"

I also notice the dash pad has one too.
Would be nice to see some original decals of these area's too

Your ideas and comments are welcomed, this info will also help out others who are in the same situation.:Comp:

    Laz,
If you are talking about the stickers that go on the housing backs of the instruments the letter codes denote what they are, so a speed-o-alert would have a different code then a regular one, plus there would be the codes for 4-speed vs auto speedos, and maybe even a kilometer vs mileage speedo. So you can see a speedo could have one of many codes.

The same goes with idiot light vs gauge instruments, and tach, vs reg clock, vs Rallye clock.

You never see any of these stickers unless you take apart the dash assembly............so...............

PS. If you are looking to do your car Concours and put it into seriously judged events I would be very wary of using a "Generic" decal set for your car.

Some of the venders out there would have you putting stickers on the cars that they never came with, and people that put their cars in some judged events have had points deducted for this. The judges know what's correct on our cars and judge them accordingly.

Just a word to the wise...........sure don't want to see anyone get "smacked in the face on the show field with deductions" when things like this can be easily taken care of before hand.

Yes, correct decals on top of the cluster.

I just wanted to recreate my own or replace them, I 'am not doing a concours restoration by any means.
Since I was cleaning this area up I wanted to do and take pictures for my own records, If I ever resell the car I have pics of what was done.

Since I'am going thru all the effort of restoring as best as possible why not go the extra mile...........

I have not taken my own just yet, they may or may not be there.
They are really great restorations from our members done here, I wonder what they did for this area.

Well after some thoughts I had a idea!

I will make my own.............It did take me some time to do these but the template is done.
Even thou these will never be seen by the public but you can say you did it and have pics of your restored cluster.
I may have spent too much time on this quest but I was happy with the results.

The original material was a paper label with contact glue I'm thinking, so I recreated still using a paper type of paper and no it's not from the house printer or even a laser printer.
It's pretty close to original I will make some slight modifications on the lettering, by no way it's intended to be exact but a nice replacement indeed.
I also did one for the speedo, tach and dash pad, I looked and found some pics from originals to make these and yes I know the tach never had one but I thought it would be nice.

As for the Codes themselves I used my own originals lucky for me the old label was still there, when looking thru some original clusters which still had the labels I noticed the small numbers where the same, they may have been done in batches. The big letters I don't know I used what I saw from mine and other originals.
Maybe someone has a detail list from the factory on what was used on each car? maybe factory order form.

I will need to glue these on any suggestions on what would be the best glue to use ?

For those that want to recreate theirs I may start reproducing them on a 1 to 1 basis for a few bucks.
If you don't have the time to make your own......
I also know you can have yours reproduce by big time printers but I'am sure they are going to Charge you big time too !
Not in it for the $ just want to help others that may want to do the same.

You can PM me for details

    Your thoughts are welcomed !

Well this is my updated results on the gauge clusters, I'am in the process of restoring my dash etc.
I also made one for the dash pad.

I have some extra sets I may sell if anyone is interested in doing the same.
