My car was blasted with garnet media. No warping at all.

Edit: I stripped the car mechanically at first, but left it exposed (under a car port) over a year coated with expoxy urethane primer. Rust started to come through. I'll be damned if I was going to go through that sanding process again!

All up, I would guess that the mechanical stripping took me about 50 hours. Did I do it as efficiently as I could have? Probably not. I think I would use more aggressive grit to begin with if I had it to do over again.

Maybe my prep work was less than perfect. I don't know-PPG says 6 months is the time frame for the primer I used.

One of my guys @ work did a bunch of research on media/warping, etc. & just got garnet to strip the tank on his Harley.

My work is progressing on my car. My original plan was to paint the car white. I am now leaning towards silver. Two questions; other than wet sanding to 500, do I change my prep in any other way? I’m doing a base/clear system. I am a novice at finishing paint. Will I be okay putting the metallic in the clear like on the newer cars? Thanks!
