GM 8.5 Posi question

Guys

I found a 8.5 posi it does have park number stamped on it (410408N) but it doesn't have the four large '8' stamped on the posi. The person told me it came out of 74 Nova. He is selling the posi with 28 spline axles with it. Will this posi fit my 71 GS 8.5 rear end?

Ask Brian trick or Monza.... The Nova rear is Not a coil type spring. The guts should fit.

 

The carrier should drop in, now if its the correct series to work with your ring gear I dont know, but they do have a break somewhere in the low 3

 

Pretty sure 2:73-3:73 will work on same carrier.

If it is a 410408,that is a 3-series posi unit for 2:73 and numerically higher ratios. That is a good,tried & true clutch style posi unit.
The 2-series is 410409.
