Never in my life did I EVER think I'd wind up with a cool chick, let alone a gearhead. Mine was a delivery driver for a local parts store, dropping off parts at a bodyshop I worked at (for free). Let's just say we didn't like eachother for the money. She owns a 65 El Camino and a 77 Cutlass Salon S. The Camino is Manual Brakes and Manual Steering. We've been together almost 2 years, and we're engaged to be married 07-07-07. I'm in the process of converting her camino to power brakes and steering ( got her a power booster and master, and all the P/S brackets for her birthday, AND she LOVED it!!!!) Maybe I should buy her some power tools!! She's been itching to get a Chevelle, but she keeps looking at the body lines of my 67 Skylark, and says she wouldn't mind one of those instead. I'll make her a Buick Girl yet!!!. I am the luckiest man on the PLANET!!! Thanks for listening/ reading.

P.S. we're registered at YearOne.com and OPGI.com if you wanna get a little something for me and the new bride. hehe:TU:

While I agree you are lucky, you are not the luckiest man on the planet! That would be me. When I married my wife 35 years ago her parents had raised her to be a prim and proper lady. I am not sure she even knew how to pump her own gas. I have change her. While she is still a prim and proper lady when she needs to be, she is not afraid to get under the cars with me to hold or turn a wrench and from time to time gets greasy. Look at the cars listed in my signature. Those are all because of her. She has always supported me in my Buick quest and attends all car functions with me and even pays attention. Last year we went to the GS NAts, the Buick Horsepower Nationals and the BOP get together in Reynolds, GA. We could not attend the BPG Nats due to a scheduling conflict. This year we will be attending the GS Nats, the BPG Nats and Reynolds, GA and she will be my pit crew when I need her. I think I found a keeper.

PS She is always ready at a moments notice to make a weekend power trip to anywhere in the continental USA to look at a car that is for sale.

Those of us with ladies that stay off our case about the cars are truly lucky. My wife ain't no gung-ho wrench turner but she will help when I really need her. She has put up with alot of stuff since 1969, and hardly ever a evil word. She knew from the start what she was getting into I guess. I have friends that get a rash of $hit for every little thing they want to do and they are always cryin how bad their life sucks. The moral to this story is;count your lucky stars if you got a good one, if you are still looking for the right one make sure she knows about your auto-illness and is OK with it. Heres to you Sweetheart, you lucky devil!!:beers2:

All I can say is that I'm really happy for any guy that has a good woman! I had a good one for many years, but as in life, everything changes!!

Someday I hope to find another "good one".

Again, I'm extremely HAPPY for anyone that has a great "soul mate"!! Hang onto them, and treat them good,....they're real tough to find!!

And then there's the Gearhead Chicks without a good man, that wants to work for the same thing she does, and not just use her $$ to watch tv and take home a measly paycheck that can only buy dinner once and a while! Or pay for his own fuel, car parts and the rest, been there done that, never again! I'm my own pit crew, but love helping others, cook dinner, driver of the race car, driver of the tow vehicle, and more, and I usually have alot of fun with my BUICK FANS and FRIENDS! THANKS:beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer and maybe a little more :beer :beer :beer :beer

I agree 100%! I didn't mean my statement to be only one sided. What I said goes for BOTH sexes equaly!

MIne has been here 35 years . Our first date we went street racing and she loved it . Before that she complimented my car , that was a BIG plus . Later dates we installed headers , a scatter shield and several other speed items . she has been under cars helping remove and install transmissions , set engines in the chassis . IN the body shop ( car body ) she has sanded , taped, inspected paint and body work gone to car shows and put up with a lot of stuff out of me of course I put up with a lot of stuff out of her . But in June we will have 35 years of wedded bliss , some good and some bad . I will leave it at that .

My wife was actually the one who wanted to buy the Wildcat! She called me up at work and said she'd found an "old car" she liked and if I wanted to look at it. I went to the "lemon lot" here at Ft. Lewis and it turned out to be the car I had been looking at while driving home every day for a week!! I didn't bother to stop and look as I knew that she'd say no. Well, we ended up purchasing it for $1500, (she talked the guy down from $2000). Since then it's been "our" hobby. My wife asks what parts we need and she does the research. My daughter named it, and we all work on it in one form or another. A family project for sure. I went to Korea for two weeks and they had a muffler and all the pipes replaced. Nice.....:TU:

    Sergeant Major,

That's absolutly a great story. I know for every good "love -relationship" out there, there's a bad one also. It's just great to hear about the "good" ones for a change of pace. (at least for me, because all I've come in contact with lately are the BAD ones!)
Keep up the good work! Working on your car together, not only with your wife but your daughter too, is just fantastic! This is true to the post's title
    "God Bless Gearhead Chicks"!!!!!! :TU:

At this point, let's just say I'm envious!! I hope you share this post with her and talk it over. Communication is a good thing!!

Listen to me, I sound like a damn counselor! lol I must be reading too many "rebuilding" books!!

    Guys,
    You know whats really interesting.
Last evening I was hanging out with the local car guys group. This is a kind of, lets call them a, high end group, that has some serious street cars. I call them the Snappy group, because the entire group is based around the local Snap On dealer. Cool guy with some nice toys. Anyway, he pulled me to the side last night and told me that because of me and my situation, EVERYONE in the group is RE-EVALUATING their situations on the home front. Now you must understand that most of their wives or girlfriends are real Gearhead Chicks.
Basically what he was telling me that even though they have Gearhead Chicks for partners, they still cant take them for granted and they definitely need to work on their relationships! MOST of them are now doing just that, based on my perceived rock solid marriage that failed. In other words, it scarred the SH&% out of them!
Anyway, I thought Id share my little experience from last night and maybe, just maybe it can help someone HERE start better lines of communication and help Save the Gearhead Chicks!!! If youre in a good situation, dont take it for granted,..WORK AT IT!!!

I don't mean to preach here, just my .02
    Steve
