I'm currently working as a Derrick hand again after I was released in Feb. I was working as Reverse Unit Operator then out here in West Texas y'all. What do you do?
I boil water! True story, I'm a boiler operator here in Seattle. Provide steam for the 3 big hospitals and a couple hundred businesses in town..... That derrick job looks kinda fun!
Carpenter Started framing houses just out of high school . School wasn’t a option and I enjoyed hard work . Next 20 years learned as much as I could from foundations to finish work to roofing . Then 20 years passed Working hard,living life even harder ,body hurt from head to toe from it all I thought what do I want to be when I grow up?? I tried a factory job to help the body only made it one year then realized I hated that and loved Creating , building I got a government job as a carpenter with all I had learned over the years Fast fwd a lot more years I turned 60 this year my body hurts less than at 40 Retirement around the corner. Life’s pretty good , I found a way to make what I love doing , job security, and a pension. Take your passion do it no matter what and you will be happy
Presently..... retired. But, before I had the greatest job I could imagine. I was a telecommunication equipment installation technician. I installed the equipment in the Phone company offices that provided the services. These included dial tone, ADSL (Internet), low speed digital circuits (up to 1.54 Mb), high speed including fibre optic shelves. Alarm systems for the equipment, -48 VDC power plants (up to 2000 Amps, a short will melt a wrench, ask me how I know.) and a lot of other various circuits and equipment too numerous to mention. The best part, my boss worked in a different city and I saw him around 3 times a year. I got to work alone most of the time and could plow though a network in about 60% of the allotted time. It was challenging installing and commissioning the equipment, but, to start, bare floor. When done, a new bay with functioning equipment ready for service. Lots of travel (good and bad part) and a fair expense account with new tools often. I miss my career.
I work for the US State Dept. I am Overseas Deployed about 10 months of the year and visit around 12-18 Countries a year. Morocco 2019
I'm a machinist. Better put i'm a screw machinist and to add a form tool grinder. Started as a QC inspector at a sheet metal plant after getting a useless Associate Degree in design a drafting in 1982. I got tired of measuring others work and battling with them on occasion and not knowing as to why one part of the piece had to be run on the big size for example. So these others who brought me the parts to check were the skilled workers as they built and also measured, so I was just a fact checker at this point I guess lol. Started again as a tool maker for big punch presses for sheet metal but I hated the big huge steel 100 to anywhere near 500 ++ lb plates and my knuckles being smacked on good occasion. Moved to a setup man on the old cam driven Brown&Sharp auto index turret screw machines making custom screws and fasteners. Also machined custom form tools for these dinosaurs. Technology came and I set up CNC screw machines for the most part but the old ones are still around. I think it is Briz that loves Waltham watches after I mentioned I worked there in the early 90's.. Wow, what a boring job I have I do though think i'm good with cars and fixing things in general. I never learned to weld though, I just wasn't around a welder to learn at least something.
Retired now but worked in a auto machine shop right out of high school for a few years then in the metal building industry for 35 years. Retired from that then had my own business working exclusively on classic and antique vehicles. Still do some of that for friends.

I calibrate and certify equipment at PT clinics, athletic facilities, long term facilities and anywhere there is some type of rehab going on. If you are ever in a place like a hospital or doctors office or rehab you will notice a sticker on everything.
I'll just cut n paste what I wrote last yr. Still doing it. Briz Platinum Level Contributor HVAC contractor. Now a one man show. Been doing this since the 90's. Sold weed through most of the 80's. Have a natural knack for fixing stuff. If I can see how its supposed to work I can probably make it do what its supposed to.

I've been a Auto, Truck, School Bus Mechanic, Technician for 40 years. I joined the Army in 1980 at the age of 17 to start that career. I've been a super gear head since I came out of the womb. For the last 20 years I man the phones walking other techs. through issues they're having, including new vehicle warranty. In the summer , (except this summer of course) spend a couple weeks on the road holding training classes for a 100+ mechanics and technicians on electrical, diesel emissions, multiplexing, complicated wiring schematics and other super exciting problem solving troubleshooting.
