About every three trips in the Buchev the AC circuit breaker pops. When the AC s turned on a lot happens all at the same time - the compressor kicks in, the throttle position solenoid activates, and the blower motor starts. I have checked everything out with a multimeter and all resistances are within spec and nothing is shorted. I decided to install a 25 amp slow-blow fuse to see if that helps. Grainger didn't have any 25 Amp units but did have a 30 Amp slow-blow. I decided to order it for $3.03 but when I found that they wanted more then $10 to ship a lousy fuse, needless to say they still have the fuse and I still have my $13. $10 to ship one fuse?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Maybe it's the startup resistance of the blower motor? Sometimes these will draw extra juice until they get spinning... Just a thought.

It wouldn't surprise me but I'm not going to chase down the problem by replacing parts until I find it. I have long been planning to replace the big A6 compressor with a smaller, lighter unit; most here recommend a Pro6ten, but sadly they don't make a dual-belt unit. I guess that it will have to be a Sanden.

I believe the pulleys can be changed.

You have a amperage problem. Your pulling more than 25 amps causing the fuse to blow. You can get a clamp on amperage meter to measure which component is drawing more.

You can try Digikey for fuses. They will ship First Class for $4.99

    They don't have them.

Are you talking about a glass cartridge or blade fuse? I'm pretty sure I found both when taking a quick look.

The blade type - I think they are called ATO or ATC fuses. GM and most other manufacturers used them for years. If you have one that's a slow-blow type I would be happy to buy it from you (but I'm not paying $10 for shipping!) :D

    $3
    That’s a sight better than $13 !
I remember my ‘73 Olds had a 30 amp circuit breaker for the power window, power seat , power top , circuit. It plugged in the fuse block. If it ever blew,
after it cooled off; it reset itself

I remember seeing those self-resetting circuit breakers, but I wonder if they are still available?

I tried in the NAPA site, no joy...

The motor blower should draw from a relay. Ounce you put in the 30 amp and its running feel around for heat along your ac circuit. An infrared thermometer would be good and quick. Your lickly going to find something getting hot with the 30 amp fuse.
