Is it just me, or does that master cylinder look a little odd? :Do No:

Just a dirty scrungy probably original drum brake m/c.

On all the ones I've seen, including my own '71, the master cylinder and booster are angled upward from the firewall. It's also odd that somebody apparently took the trouble to repaint the breather and put on new decals but left other ratty stuff as is. (although the hoses and plug wires look pretty new)

Odd that it would have a drum brake master as all GSX's came standard with discs

It's from the 70 convert engine bay.

I guess I just found it a really odd combination; convert, 4-speed, with power drums. . .

The car was originally from mass and was raced quite a bit.

Anyone know if that white car is for real? I do know the green GS vert well and its NOT a stage1 for sure.

How do you know the green car's not a stage 1? According to the description, it's documented.

Just talked with a long-time Buick mechanic/strip-car guy last night. He raced with aluminum drums for years, so while it's odd not to have discs, it's not too uncommon....

    sorry for being slightly OT.
How do you know the difference between a drum and disk master cyclinder?
Is there a problem using a drum master with disc brakes?

That 66 GS 4 speed will probably go cheap. And not get any air-time:rant:

Drum master will not work correctly because of the amount of fluid needing to be moved is greater with disc. The front res is much larger so using a drum master would limit the front disc so much they would not clamp down on the rotors. in 1970 disc was an option. A lot of old racers thought that disc brakes would slow them down because it had a continous contact with the rotor causing drag. 1973 saw all A bodies get disc

If someone was to drag up the old threads the white car was discussed a lot. I doubt there is more than one white 4 spd stage 1 convertible with brown interior but, hey who knows

I checked this car out 3 years ago when it was a fresh resto out of Hollywood FL.Sloan report shows a regular 455 ...BA on the trans. The than owner knew that but has since passed away.Read BJ tricky listing again it doesnt refer to that specific car being the S1 just what the package was .
