Decided to replace the springs in my 63 lesabre vert. Hard? Can I do it on the ground or do I need a lift?

    Thanks in advance!

You need to jack up the car about 16 inches off of the ground.
Then refer to a chassis manual or a Motors manual.

This has been discussed several times with some great input. Run a search and they should answer all of your questions :TU:

I'ts realtively easy - you need a strong jack, 2 strong jack stands, a spring compressor, ball joint separator, other basic tools penetrant to release 40 years worth of goo and rusted nuts, common sense, patience and a manual.Whatever you do don't remove the nuts off the end of the ball joints until after you've separated the joints. Otherwise it'll all fly apart in the general direction of your face/ head. Not nice. The nuts will hold it together.
Support the lower arm whilst you work and have a helper. if it's your first time. Go slowly and check before you do somehting you're not sure on.

You may also damage the ball joints in removing them to get at the spring. May be worth considering replacing both ball joints and suspension bushes whilst you are at it. It's a longer more expensive job but whilst it's all apart....

Otherwise it's normally a short weekends job [but plan on a full one].
Good luck and have fun, see my post on my '65 Skylark becuase I've just done the same thing and drop us a post with some pics after if you can.

    best regards :)
