Some of you have seen her in our parts pictures. She will be 4 tomorrow. Tonight, we had to carry her in to the house. She is unable to utilize her back legs. No damage or breakage. She can move them, but can't support herself. As a very small puppy, she had surgery on her front legs so she could walk. She has a genetic disorder and her bones wouldn't grow. We are praying this isn't the same type of problem. All of a sudden, we focus stongly on the real meaning of Christmas, and the ones we love and the basis of our love. Hope Harley can walk in the morning.
Had a similar experience with my dog Chevy. She just couldn't get up one day. Took her to the vet and it turned out to be Lyme disease. Couple of weeks later she was good as new. Hope it turns out ok.
My last lab had a problem where he pinched a nerve in his back after a long day of swimming. He could move his legs but could barely support his weight and his tail couldn't move at all. It got better once he rested and was given some Prednisone and the inflamed nerve calmed down. I hope it's something minor like that and your lab gets better soon.ray:
I have a Golden Retriever who just truned 12 he had the same thing one happen to him one moring he just couldn't use his back legs it only lasted for about 6-8 hrs and then his was fine and that was 3-4 years ago. I hope that is the case with your's.
Could be a tick? Worth having a thorough look through the fur. Can cause paralysis. http://bexar-tx.tamu.edu/IPM/Animals/F1/ticks.htm
Thank you everybody. I know a lot of you have dog's that are special to you. Last night was tough. This morning, Harley was able to get up and go outside and make it back in, and now sitting around. She normally only gets to come in the house at night. I talked to the emergency clinic vet and we are watching her. She probably overdid it yesterday, but we will still take her in for test and x-rays. She has had one surgery for bone problems when she was only a couple of months old. She's tough. Hopefully, she has some good years ahead with us.
Thanks for the update. I've been waiting to see if things were going to go well. ray: I've got a soft spot for labs.
Thanks everybody. She seems to be doing much better. We will still take her to the vet on monday to see if there is anything they can do to prevent it from happening.
