1969 GS 400 - anyone run into this issue and have any tricks/helps? Trying to avoid having to pull the entire switch (which seems to also handle the turn signals, etc.) since the disassembly looks like a pain in the a##, so figured I'd ask to see if there's something easy I'm missing before I start.

    Any help/thoughts/insight appreciated!

So when you try to activate your hazard lights, the button won't stay in the "on" position because something inside broke? I think mine has the same problem but like you I didn't want to hassle with the disassembly.

Just do like I do and hit your brake pedal about 2 times per second... :)

That's exactly the issue - I suppose I'll add fixing it to the to-do list.

My Chinese replacement pos did the same thing. I ended up pulling it up outside the upper bowl and filed off the plastic casting flash, or whatever you call it. You don't have to remove the switch completely from the column to do that. If you have an original switch and end up replacing it with an aftermarket, transfer the old horn contact button and spring into the new switch. The new switches that we were using for the LLV's had extremely hard buttons and a stiff spring. Within two months, the button destroyed the cancel cam and filled the column with copper/brass colored shavings. A few months ago I replaced the turn signal switch on my Caprice and the horn contact button is much heavier than the original so I used the old one.
