I heard they don't look exactly like the originals........if I'm gonna lay out 100 bucks worth of grub for a set of 4 I would hope they are good quality. Where's a good place to get them from? :Do No:

I got my T3 repo headlights through Year One. I think they were $125 at the time. One smoked inside as soon as I hooked it up. :af: I called Year One and they did send another set and I will send back the bad ones.

It doesn't say anything about being halogen on their website just that they are brighter......where did you hear that? :bglasses:

Call them as this was always my understanding but I do not recall exactly where. We have discussed them in the past on the Board. There was even a discussion here about a group purchase but they would not volume discount. I could have perpetuated someone else's misunderstanding including my own.

Jim, is right on the suppier, this place is first class!! I bought all my wiring for my Corvette from them and have no complains. As far as the light I will only use Wagner halogen in my cars because I do use my car at night. The reproductions "T-3"s are just that a reproduction of a orignal and thats fine for the pure stocker concourse guys but I like seeing were I'm going at night. AL. :bglasses:

    T-3's

I paid 135.00 included shipping for a set for my 71 W-30. They are clear, correct and bright-- but not as bright as halogen. Worth the money for correctness alone. Got em direct from flynbuick link. John

    Dr Olds

You say they are close enough to the originals to satisfy you? Is there any visual difference on the glass T-3 pattern?

    T-3's

BuickMeister, they are good and correct enough that no Judge should deduct points for them. Maybe on a Platinum Concours car, you might want a set of NOS ones ( if you could find them) but I would accept these as correct. They are brighter than originals but not as bright as Halogen. I drove my car in the dark last week to get the exhaust pipes and correct mufflers installed and I was satisfied with them . Much better than the old T-3's

Yea those original T-3 were about as bright as a candle. Can you believe how fast we used to drive at night with just T-3s?

( For those that do not know John is a judge at the Olds Nationals put on by the OCA)

    Guys,
Just to add my 2 cents, I have also passed them as correct in the Concours classes of both the GSCA and BPG.
Mark Reeves has a set on his 70 white GSX and he likes them.

On the website they state that NOS headlights will have a short life b/c air enters the bulb over the years........I can atest to that......I had a box of about 8 of them and upon testing let the smoke out of 7 of them.........one high beam is the only one left that works.

I wonder how many people got NOS bulbs from evilbay that did the same thing?

Wouldn't it be cool if they really made halogen T-3's? That would really be worth the high price to me. :Brow:

    That settles it!

Guys if they are good enough for Duane and I like the brightness over anything but halogen, they are worth the $ :) 135.00.

I had contacted the manufacturer about a year ago to see if they would discount a group purchase. They said "no discounts".

Someone can ask them again :Do No:

If you are in a judged BCA or AACA event, and the judge is knowledgable about the different T-3 patterns and logos, you would get points deducted. I recognize Duane's comment, but the rules haven't caught up with his common sense.

There was one pattern for 1961-67, and another three patterns for the years from 1968 to 1972. I remember have a reference page with pictures of the various T-3 lenses and the corresponding model years when judging at BCA national events.

Now, going from a show mindset to reality, I have halogens with direct battery wiring and relays in my Skylark. My friends remark how bright they seem. Good, I want every advantage in seeing what's ahead of me. The T-3's were pitiful in that regard.

    Harry,
The repro T-3's in Mark Reeves 70 GSX were of the 67-71 variety. That is they had the triangle with the vertical lines inside it. They were correct for that year car, therefore no points were deducted.

Now if he had installed the 61-66 or the 72 variety then he would have had points deducted whether they were reproductions or not. He would also receive deductions for 73 Power Beams, or any halogens.

The bottom line is, if it is correct for that year car, then the part flies.

So what's up with your comment?
    Duane

By the way I have judged BCA, GSCA, and BPG national meets for the 64-72 Skylark/GS classes.
