I was driving from Milwaukee to Virginia and stopped by the Cat's Lair to pick up a few parts. I got to meet the legend -- my kids said "Wow, that guy is pretty chill" -- and I got a sneak peek at his sweet Wildcat project.

I was either 8 hours late or 16 hours early -- its what happens when women make the plans -- and I owe him both sincere apologies and thanks for changing his schedule to meet me.

So Bill -- sorry about the screwed-up arrival, thanks for the great parts, stay safe, and good luck!

I’ve never been but would like to. I’m afraid it’d be like Hotel California with some Hubter S. Thompson thrown in!

Boy, if that's not the perfect illustration of why I don't want you guys go at each other's throats over politics here, I don't know what is.

I always knew that if you meet and sit down with each other face to face, you would strike up a friendship, and all that other stuff would seem much less important. I have had that experience myself.

Steve and Bill could not be any farther apart when it comes to how they think this country should be run, but when it comes down to it, we are all here together, and all share a common interest, that transcends the nastiness and division that we see the media try and grind into us every day. On both sides.. Purely for their own ratings and money.

Put in proper perspective, Family and Friends are much more important than the few things we don't agree on. It's been said before, but it bears repeating.

We all agree on a lot more than we disagree on.

    Very happy to see this.

i am embarrased to admit this, but:

It was time to pack up and go, so I grabbed the oh-so-heavy 2 lbs of parts in boxes I just bought and headed to the car, fully intending to walk back for the two rims I bought. I look over my shoulder and Bill starts lugging the rims. Yeesh. I felt like a real dick, but the die was cast and I didn't want to make it a thing so I just kept walking.

once we left I mentioned it to the kids and they were like "yeah, we we're kinda wondering about that..."

Even worse -- I bought more than expected and had to borrow $45 from each kid. They then made it clear that they each expected to get back $50. I am both irked and proud.

Worked out perfectly -- I seemed generous but I didn't have to follow through. Oh yeah!:D

Hey, I was paying enough attention to remember "Gear Vendor Overdrive" and "3.90 rear", but I can't recall the engine specs, to be honest. Some sort of Hemi, right?:p

Years ago, probably 1996, I had a few leftover parts from an abandoned 1964 Riviera 425 2x4 project. I had a very nice 2x4 chrome air cleaner and put it in Hemmings. Remember Hemmings was the place in pre Internet days to post parts for sale. 2 guys responded hard, a guy from Michigan that I later learned was a Buick rare parts hoarder named Randy. Randy Rymel? Randy something. The other said his business was "Cat's Lair."

I ended up selling the air cleaner to Randy. The Cat's Lair guy, who I thought was from Ohio or Indiana - was very upset and laid into me in a profane manner and said I was dead to the Buick world! I would never get any respect in the Buick world from then on!

Can't say it's the same guy but it did give me pause. I decided then that the rare Buick performance parts world was not for me.

You are a liar.....and anyone who knows me or has ever had dealings with me will tell you that you are lying.

I have never been profane with anybody at anytime in my life.....

Why you are making up this supposed story from over 25 years ago and posting it now i can only imagine.......especially since it shows that you have been here since 2010 and have had ample opportunity in the years since ?

    Peace WildBill

I think you got the wrong cat, this fellow isn’t the type you describe. I do believe someone was rude to you however I seriously doubt it was him!

Huh.. I think your mistaken, Bill's rep is secure on this site.. and that is a wild accusation to throw out with you having no idea what his name was.. Cats Lair could be anyone.

Not sure why you brought it up even.. if you just looking to grind an old axe.. then do it elsewhere..

Roadmaster, you didn’t actually accuse Wild Bill of being rude and profane; you said you weren’t sure it was him. BUT…you picked a thread about Wild Bill to post it. That’s either a passive aggressive way to insult him or you’re talking out of your ass. Which is it? Either put up (proof it’s Wild Bill) or shut up (delete the post).

I was just trying to figure out if you were the same guy. I distinctly remember "Cat's Lair". Does anyone remember the Rymal guy, Randy something from Michigan that was a 2 x 4 and rare Buick parts hoarder.

Admins are welcome to delete my post.

Clearly Bill has an impeccable reputation.

I have modified my post to remove "I suppose it was this guy." I apologize, but remain curious who this Cat's lair guy was.
