I went to visit a friend today 3:30 pm and was going to show him “Rosie” (our 7 month old border collie mix,who was at GS Nats with me)while we were car talking but I did not know he had his full sized German Shepard out as well as pit bull mix. They didn’t lay a tooth on Rosie, but after she disobeyed & bolted out of my truck & ran into his dogs she ran like mad off into some deep woods & supposedly across a road people FLY down day & night. I am disabled & the Doctors say I have PTSD from all the crap I have been through (even though not military related) and this little girl stays with me 24/7 & has really helped me in many ways. We have posted internet lost&found ads,put up signs & had folks on foot & multiple vehicles looking for her today/tonight but found absolutely nothing. Sorry to put this here with the real issues that members are facing with personal & family issues but I sure would appreciate the prayers. No calls from my buddies right now please, I feel totally numb & that might be best for right now, just praying nothing bad happens to her.
John. This is as "real" an issue as there is. I have lost friends and family to horrendous things, and seen more than my share of heartbreak and grief through my personal life and military career. No one should get anymore special consideration for the cause of their pain and anguish. If your hurting and in distress, it is as real and relevant as any other human's pain and suffering. That said, I will keep you and Rosie on prayers, and hope that you two are re-united soon. Your friend. Michael
Fritz we are praying for a positive outcome to this. I believe in prayer and find great comfort and unity knowing others are praying for me. Trust me I am speaking from past and especially current situations. Our thoughts and prayers for her protection and safe return and for your peace of mind. Check with the local animal control and shelters tomorrow. Prayers sent
Thank all of you for your kind words, encouragement, suggestions & prayers. Went back out looking for her but it is dark as sin out there, all I have seen is one big buck but no Rosie yet. Praying she is somewhere warm or safe (hopefully both) and that I can find her at first light before the insane rural cut through traffic starts. There is nowhere to pull off on the shoulder so I am going to have to find somewhere up the road to setup and hoof it in the best I can. My cell is on all the internet postings & signs & will call the shelter when they open. Trying to keep my emotions neutral so I don’t screw myself over while I need 100% focus on just finding her asap. Thank you again gentlemen.
Borders are one of the most intelligent dogs. They tend to "ground", wait for "work", and they are obedient to their masters. Good chance she is bedded and waiting for you to call her out. (they are also "high strung" and react off/follow your lead.) First chance you get, do anything "routine" she will recognize.
JUST FOUND HER SAFE & SOUND ! Kept working the perimeter & was relooping and there she was at the Stop sign next to one of our posters shivering in the rain. Got her all wrapped up & rehydrated. Time for a good meal & treats and lots of hugs! Thank everyone again for your prayers and Thank You Lord (!) been doing some SERIOUS praying. Wow am I happy for her to be sitting here beside me again!
Wow!! That is Awesome!! You should get Rosie a tracking chip. So glad you got her back Fritz Who says God doesn't answer prayer?
Glad she made it home and is basically safe, I'm sure her night was just as scary and lonely as yours. I dont think anyone here would says this issue is any less important. Its family. Trust me buddy I feel your pain, I lost my allie late sept due to a sudden stroke, I still cant put her food bowl or bed away, every day b4 and after bed i pet the box her ashes are in and talk to her. I have her collar and fav toy hanging in the back of my Yukon xl and everyday b4 school my daughter goes back and jingles the collar. When you have a friend with 24/7 it's terrible when they no longer are. Give rosie's a hug and kiss for me, glad to hear a positive outcome
I think Fritz misinterpreted what happened. Dog may have gotten the scent of an old Buick way back in the woods and run off to check it out. Poor little girl didn't have no wrenches or nothin and just gave up and waited for him.
There is no "just a dog". Dogs want to do nothing but give you love and companionship and really just want a good scritch or two in return. Glad you found your pup.
