Got up at 4 am, outside at 5 to ready the GS for Thompson.
Gas up and hit the highway, I exit Vrooman Rd. for Thompson, stop at BP to pee, get back in the GS, fire it up, put it in reverse, PER TINK, shifter is like a hot knife thru butter, "Hmmmm, this oughta be interesting"
Shift cable came off the selector on the trans, "well this sucks"
Figured I'd put it back in the hole, as long as I get reverse, then drive, Im good, I'll just head home. Started car, tried reverse, PER TINK, "Well hell this aint gonna work"
Started car again, set E-brake, lay on ground, reach over to selector on trans, click, ok were in reverse, release E-brake, back outta my spot, set E-brake, lay on ground, reach over to selector, "easy now, yah want drive, not second or first, click..neutral, click..drive, ok should be good to go"
Back inside, release E-brake, open my peanut butter cups and water, here we go.
At first I thought it came disconnected from the shifter in the car, removed the console, all was good there, when I looked again underneath and reached my hand onto the other side of the header collector, there she was justa danglin'
Oh well, home now, gonna cut grass:(
Heres a vid of me going 72 mph in Park LOLOLOL

That's almost as good (bad) as the exhaust clamp that kept me from running at BG. Boy was that a jagged pill to swallow.

Damn Mark you were only 5 miles from my house. I would've helped. It was a nice day for TnT at Thompson,I took a friends newly acquired race car to test for him. Not a lot of cars, you could've got a dozen runs in.Hopefully its an easy fix and you could make next saturday TnT. I'll be there with my grandson with his Jr dragster

I found this curious also, between 3000 and 3500 RPM and 70-80 mph the RPM can vary.
    I can also cruise 80 MPH @ 3500 RPM
My theory is, the convertor WILL flash to 3500, it stalls at 2800/3000 and between 3000 and 3500 RPM the convertor is "floating/ not coupled yet.
The engine side of the convertor forward is running near 3500 RPM, the trans side of the convertor is only moving at 72 mph, which is a "theroetically" 3000 rpm, so the back half of the convertor isnt caught up with the front half yet.
Its an anomaly for sure, interesting tho:cool:

This is why I love the lockup converters, I find they help fuel mileage as well.

    True!
Lock up convertors are the cats ass so to speak.
Years and years ago they were poo poo'd by the performance world due to lack of knowledge of how to make them survive ( the clutch/s) and get decent, efficient stall out of them..... "We cant get this to work, just use a 10 or 9" convertor"
    Actually a 350C trans would be nice:D

I just put a 4000 stall in my SUV with a cammed 5.3, 3.73 gears and it leaves the line like it’s got 4.56 gears... but then it’s 100% locked once I’m moving.

And yes the technology has improved a lot, I had Hughes make me a converter that’s a 3800 stall, with a triple disk lockup that can handle 700 Hp on lockup they claim.

It was in Park, look at the video, LOLOLOL
Actually when I pulled outta the BP heading back to the highway, I made sure I heard 3 shifts:D
Otherwise, stop, set E brake, lay on side of the road, reach over, burn my arm on the header collector, "F thats hot" and reset:rolleyes:

Yes, I remember back in the 90's the Turbo Buick guys were having noise issues with some of the triple disc lock up convertors, Vigilante comes to mind, but yeah I believe technology has overcome most all the issues with high stall lock up convertors

    docgsx It's not a GTX

Not trying to hijack the thread but, since we were talking converters. What would you put in a slightly modified, hot air, street driven car for a lock up converter? wanting to get the best fuel mileage possible with some increased performance. 3.42 Posi

I would use something like this. Avoid the cheap brand converters.

Looks to me like if you shift down to first that the pin is going to rub on the pan rail. Hard to tell from the pics but if it is rubbing then that pin will fall out again and I bet thats why it fell out on you the other day.
