In August I was eating and my esophagus ruptured near my stomach

Through a tragic comedy of errors by health care professionals it was over 8hrs before I got to a surgeon.

By that point my stomach had pumped my chest cavity full of acid and I was digesting my lungs :Dou:

When I met my surgeon the first thing he tells me is ''you are dying, if I do nothing youll be dead in less than an hour, if I do surgery youll die on the table, and even if you survive the surgery youll die from the infections in your lungs. Do you want to stay awake and say goodbye to youre family or do you want me to try surgery?'' :eek2:

Hell of a thing to hear Ill tell you.

I thought about it, took comfort in my sometimes rocky but solid relationship with God, and told the Dr ''I came all this way lets go for it, and just so you know, I don't die easy''

It was bad, I almost died several times over the next month, but I pulled through.

There were dozens of churches and hundreds of people praying for me and there were times I could just about feel it

So that's the short version, Im still on the mend, but Im home and have all the drain tubes out of me (9 in total), I still have need of prayers but don't we all :TU:

God bless, and keep fighting the good fight. My prayers are with you. I can only hope to have the resolution and resolve that you have when I'm faced with the same dilemma

What is one brave story. I am so glad you made it through. That is a courageous story not what the nut ball Bruce Jenner did.

    Glad to be back :beer

My lungs are still weak but recovering. The Dr isn't sure if they'll ever be %100 but should come close over time.

It was a roller coaster from hell to get back.

The huge amount of antibiotics to fight the infections in my lungs almost killed my kidneys.

The treatment to save my kidneys almost shut down my pancreas, so I almost died of diabetic shock and had to go on insulin till they fixed that :Dou:

My biggest current problem is the last two tube sites are slow healing and painful because they were in for so long.

All I want is to get back to work, Ive never in my life been a layabout. I just cant stand sitting around all day doing nothing, Im just not built for it :blast:

I can understand your being "stir-crazy" after being laid up. I'm just as bad. Do not, however, try to go back to work until you are fully healed. You can do more serious damage that will put you back out of commission even longer. Seen it happen. Please be careful.
BTW, Did you like the video?
