Hi all I have searched some the threads and can’t seem to find a fix. My 72 skylark cluster lights aren’t working for the speedometer and gas gauge. The blinker, brake, oil, seatbelt and brights indicators all work however the backlights aren’t working. I have installed new switch, all exterior lights (head light & Parking) work as well as interior when I turn switch all the way left. I have double checked the ground wires, I just can’t seem to figure out any ideas?!
I believe there is a fuse just for the dash lighting. It’s the small one near the bottom of the fuse box, maybe 4 Amp.
OK, you need to start testing with a test light. First see if you have power at the fuse. Then the Gray wire supplies all the bulbs in the dash. You'll need to see if you have a break somewhere. You can check that the dash is grounded as well.
Ok used multi meter I have power going to one side of the fuse (right side) not getting a reading on the other side however
Then the fuse is bad. It should conduct from one side to the other unless it is blown. You might have replaced it, but it could have blown immediately.
Def was the case! Once again Larry thank you I’m gonna have to mail you a case of beer soon! Did the led upgrade now it looks amazing! Just need new dash housing and to polish up the gauges.
